Drinking with Lt. Match

Post by Vardaen » Mon Feb 08, 2010 9:40 pm

Gizzik scampers up on a chair and takes his own mug from Grim, "Thanks." The goblin drinks down as the tale is told, correcting Grim a few times when the talk of the ruins arrives, effectively filling in size age and weight dimentions and his own thoughts about Aecheras the statue guardian.

Lugar chooses to help do some crowd control and pushes back the other orcs where were already around Lt.Match. The Shaman's status helps to clear the area out giving the Talonbreakers some 'privacy' with the Lt.

Match gives a hoot when he sees Grim, Ogbar and Garruk. "Sgt! You are back, and with just enough time. Excellent, I was starting to think you'd gotten lost out there." He takes the mug from Grim and stands with one leg on the seat of his chair listening to the tale about all the adventure, killing, and the nimble and lucky Trogg Cook with a big laugh when finally Grim tells of the things death. "Well ain't that a tale! A good one too. We'll have to see about sending back some team to clean out those Titan Ruins. Such a find like that shouldn't go unlooted, you never know what kind of magical items from ancient times might still be in there waiting for the Horde to pick them up and use them." He downs his mug by the time the tale is over and slaps Grim on the shoulder. "Excellent! Most Excellent!"

He wipes the foam from his upper lip and tusks, "You guys get some rest, the Venture Company plans to head out first light tomorrow, with or without our escort. I had set up a second group of fellas to take them to Durotar if you didn't return, but they are pups, hardly more than peons, and now I don't have to send them. Good."

Match taps his belly, "Meet me at the kodo pens in the morning, I'll introduce you to the Venture Company teamsters and we can get this take care of."

Garruk sips at his ale throughout the night, letting Grim and Gizzik fill Match out on the details of their visit to Bael Modan. Once the mission-related details are over, he interjects:

"Lieutenant, before we leave, I have a detail. Now that we've told you about how, when we crossed the Barrens, we met and killed one of these "Kolkar" centaurs, I'd like to know a little more about them. Have you encountered these creatures recently? Is it possible that this may mean war between the Horde and this tribe?"

"I suppose, with that," he continues. "we just need to meet these Venture Co. goblins. I suppose when we ask about them they'll tell us exactly what we want to hear, so I'd also like your opinion on these people... if you'd be willing. Sir."

Match answers Garruk's questions, "Certainly Sgt. The Kolkar are our enemy, they have been since we teamed up with the Tauren. Thrall bested them when the Horde arrived on Kalimdor and since then they have hated us for ever. Don't worry you didn't start a war Sgt. Some of the tribes of the Centuar of less violent the others, some are more so. Sort of like how the Orcs of old used to be back before the First War. Sounds like to me you made enemies of whatever tribe that was you crossed, its hard to tell as they are generally nomads. I would expect more trouble from them if you are down that way again certainly." He looks at Ogbar, "Ogbar can likely tell you more about them, they have been his people's arch enemies for centuries."

"This Venture Company carvan is mostly goblins, but they have a few non-goblins among their ranks too I believe. They are wily creatuers, dishonoest as they are short at times." He glances at Gizzik, "But they have been working with the Horde in these parts fairly honestly. Getting them safelt to Durotar's boarders is critical to a stable economic relationship with them. Its rather important we don't screw this up, which is why I wanted my best orcs on the job, that means you." He finishes more ale off. "Just get them to where they need to go, you don't need to worry much more than that about them. But don't go pissing them off if you can help it, I think Gizzik will be a big assesst in that department seeing as they are his kind." Match, leans back. "Anything else?"
There will be time to visit shops in the morning if you want to do that.

Please check several of the OOC threads right now. The Loot Thread, the Welcome New Players Thread and the Char Sheet/Level Up thread all in the OOC area for WoW.

Once you are done talking to Match I'll be ending the Chapter and starting the next.

Ogbar lets out a grunting laugh as the Lt talks about the Kolkar. "He's right. Just having me with you made them your enemies for life. Doesn't matter what we were doing. We could have been doing something beneficial to them and they'd still have attack, just because I was there..." He soon amends his previous statement. "Not that we did anything beneficial for them, especially with that caber toss of yours, Grim." Just in case that story hasn't already been told, he fills in the Lt on Grim's feat of strength.

"That was a sight, alright," Garruk remarks as Ogbar tells Match his story, "It's easy to look good with help like this," he says with a grin, as he hikes his fingers in the rest of the Talonbreakers' direction.

Having fallen behind in his Ale-draining as a side effect of the regaling of the Lt., Grim puts a few measured gulps of his beverage away.

"Do-Row-Tar... Du-Roe-Tawr"... the words feel funny in Grim's mouth as he takes in the description of the trading caravan they are to accompany.

"Ey, Gizzik... which way's Durotar? back through the Kolkar lands? Oh, and do we have a place to stay right near the Caravan? We ought to start out early so we can get their baggage train sorted and moved out."

Grim hunches down low, hiding his lack of geographical prowess behind his mug while he grumbles the question to the Goblin, then loudens slighly concerning camping space.

The End

Post by Vardaen » Fri Feb 12, 2010 8:11 pm

Match looks cross eyed at Grim, "You have had enough to drink if you don't know where the Orcish Homeland is!" He knocks the mug right out of Grim's hands, sending the contents spilling on the floor. "That's enough for all of you. You have a job to do in the morning. Get out of here and go get some sleep at the barraks, there are cots open there for you to use." He leans over to Garruk, "Make sure Blackblade there stays off the hooch, we can't have one of our more well known units looking like a pack of idiot peons."

The Lietentant then turns away from the group as his attention is grab by a small group of red skinned orcs that are seeking to speak to him next.
Alright the chapter is effectively over. Please feel free to make one last post about leaving and heading off for the night. I'll be starting the next thread today! So watch to post in to that one as well.

Grim watches as his mug bounces handle over barrel into the floorboards...

He was certain he had lowered his voice to ask Gizzik about Durotar, but perhaps the echo from the near empty tankard was too much for Match to miss.

Grim takes his exit from the Alehouse, and looking through the rabble strewn streets, he locates the barracks. One bootshod clomping foot following the other, he makes his way to the great bone and skin yert.

Inspired briefly, Grim belts out a tune. A distant memory of his first raid into the Alliance lands... The Orcish camp was made on the other side of a wood from a unit of Alliance footmen... their song came drifting through the trees, he had only caught part of it, and by morning some bright spark had made out all they lyrics...

"Ooooohhhhh, A very fine ale goes well with a tale,
and whiskey's fine for sipping,
And elvish wine is fine pro-vi-ded elvish blood is dripping....

But you'll never drink as well, if you've got a cell
imprisoning human mages.
'cause every orc knows from his fangs to his toes
magic booze is from them cages.

So if you have got a pris-on,
and couple of emp-ty bot-tles,
Just go and saaaaaack
a poooiiiiiinty haaaaaaat
~crescendo~
Drink Conjured Glacial Water!"

"Aaaah, and then we bashed 'em..." he comments aloud to no-one in particular.

Grim's punchy ending meets with no applause, and a few odd looks. Predicting that there will be no curtain call, he ducks into the Barracks tent, and settles in for the night, stowing his gear under his cot.

The Tauren striding along next to Grim hadn't heard of this particular song before, but he laughs as Grim concludes it and heads into the bunkroom. "That was... That was something, Grim."

The big cow-man seems to be at a loss for words as he too enters the Barracks tent, looking for a cot to crash on.
