Blake Mitchell Chapter 1: Every dog has his day

Post by sempai » Wed Feb 11, 2009 2:14 am

How could they do this Blake thinks to himself as he approaches the main gates of the facility in a stolen 84 mustang.

They sent him to the Amazon to quell a political uprising in Columbia, but instead nothing awaited him but death... or so they thought. His training proved to be too much for them.

Arizona... the middle of the desert, he tries to fight the urge to lick his nose, but gives in, the cool spittle helping the dry canine nose. He shakes his head, again giving into the instinct of his new genome. He looks to the left and notices he has the window down did i open the window because the wind feels good? or because a dog loves the window down?

He approaches the gate of the training facility that made him what he is... but something is different, the gate is open, no trucks, cameras missing. A second betrayal?
welcome to the game Hayabusa, this thread is for him and only him... feel free to be creative in your first post, describing what happened in Columbia, how your training was here, feel free to even set up the plot a little. enjoy!

Blake drives slowly through the gates observing the the little guard house with the cracked windows and the broken pike. He is forced to drive over a fallen part of the fence. The roads are broken up but there is no grass nor other small plants that grows out of the flaws in the concrete. Even the reduced desert plants lining the streets don't seem to grow rampant.
Less than hundred yards away are the baracks and an the parking area. Paint flakes off the metal walls. Scattered wood, metal and glass lay in front of the building. Everything is covered in a thin layer of sand, but not so much one would expect on a deserted military base in the middle of the desert. The small administration to the right and the baracks are both abandoned.
When he passes the buildings Blake can see through the opened doors which move slightly back and forth in the breeze. None of them arouses his interest not even the vehicle depot with the almost closed doors next to the large warehouse. He drives straight to the low complex laying inside another perimeter fence with watchtowers on all four corners. The gates appear closed but after a soft collsion with the car they fly wide open being only left ajar. The only entrance is a the end of a wide drive leading to a lower loading bay.
The brakes squeal as Blake stops the car in front of the closed doors. Out here he doesn't need any cover so he leaves the stolen hat and coat in the car. It's too hot anyway. He only picks the gun from under the driver's seat before he shuts the motor off and exits the car. He lowers his head and smells the air, but the strong scent of the oil-slicks on the concrete and the salty sand overwhelm cover any other odor out here. Blake slowly walks towards the only door next to the shutter. The small lutescent plastic windows embedded in both of them and the one next to the door are painted black from the inside. The switch panel beside the steel shutter was ripped out and the opening in the wall has been welded up which leaves only the door. Blake looks at the rusty doorknob. Gun in the right hand, the back to the wall next to the door he turns the knob. Locked.
He eases his strained shoulders and thinks about the situation.

Four months ago he was inserted into the colombian rainforest. The mission was to find an american chemist who has worked for a government agency. The chemit'ss assistant was found shot inside the laboratory and he himself vanished. The intelligence received information from an undercover agent in Venezuela that the chemist has been seen boarding a transport to a small town near the colombian boder. Satellite images showed a small insurrectionist base less than hundred miles away from the town and it was deceided to send one of their best tracking units to arrest the chemist, interrogate him and bring him to justice. At least this was what Lieutenant Blake Mitchell was told.
A small team was flown into the jungle consisting of Captain J. Burke, Sergeant First Class E. Gant and himself. All three of them came from the same deliberate experimentation research, but different military branches.
After the drop off they went nineteen miles through the jungle before reaching their destinationfaster than assumed. It was not the expected stronghold only a few huts with a two story concrete building in the middle. They were able to enter the structure without any incident or encounter where they found the chemist inside a small lab. The man confused about the appeareance of the strange creatures and the absence of his guards told them that he was redeployed here with little protest from himself. When the team radioed to clear the nebulous situation most of their equipment went up in flames. It was decided to return to their extraction point but when they left the builing a few helicopters arrived and blew the village to hell. With his comrades and the scientist dead Blake marched for two and a half days through the jungle to the point where they were supposed to be picked up. But after hours of waiting an no arrival the situation was clear. They were set up. Weeks later he was able to leave the Amazon rainforest and traveled back to the United States. It took him months, because he mostly moved in the protection of the night. He crossed the Mexico-United Statesborder a few days ago near Nogales, Arizona and stole a car in which he drove to the facility the experimentations took place.

Who the hell set us up? He walks in front of the door with the rusted knob and kicks it as hard as he can.

great first post man... lots of history there
The door swings open, and Blake sees what was once and administrative office with many officers and computers, is now empty. The marks on the desk still there showing where the monitors and keyboards sat. The large desk where the attractive young woman sat is vacant, the filing cabinet gone.

Blake continues into the back office, and then to the laboratory where he took his injections and his gradual ascension into his current mutation. Lots of pain he felt in this room, as the mutagens burnt his internal organs.

But now all empty....

he steps back out into the courtyard and looks about, everything is empty.

Suddenly out of the corner of his eye, in one of the towers the hot sunlight reflects, causing a quick glare into the mutant soldiers eyes.

He took his chance and fires a round in the walls of the tower. Since there isn't any cover except the car which wouldn't withstand a firefight an his own limited ammunition, he hopes to suppress whoever or whatever is hiding there for a few seconds in which he runs towards the base of the tower. This will not only shorten the distance but also force the occupant of the tower to put his head out to target him.

using your pistol right? I'm assuming you only have that with you at the moment?
Blake Fires shots into the tower attempting fire suppression he learned in sniper school, as he starts running towards the tower. Just then sub machine gun fire erupts behind him, cumming from the corner of one of the buildings.
12/18 miss!
The dust rises from the ground and Blake knows that the gunner has some skill.

he evaluates his terrain quickly. He can continue to the tower, which will give him cover from above but very poor cover from the rear, he looks to the left and only sees the blank wall, to the right a few water barrels that could supply good cover from the rear gunner, but not so much from the tower.

The door on the tower is shut, he could run towards it, but if the door is locked, it he will be pinned down from above, and open to the other gunner.
your options, stand in place, run back to the car, (1 round you will get fired on again), run to the barrels, this round, go to the tower and hope the door is unlocked, or turn towards the other gunner, (1 round).

Blake can see the gunner shoting at him from cover, he can try to attack, however there will be penalties for the cover.

Blake runs towards the barrels, seeking cover from the rear gunner. He carfully aims at the tower to take out the danger there when it shows up, before he takes his chances with the gunner.

Blake leaps behind the barrels taking fire from the rear. The bullets make a pinging noise as the hit the barrels, the water starts to spill into dry dirt.

The sniper in the tower aims his shot, his eye perfectly upon Blakes head, the dog can see the red dot appear on the bridge of his nose, and his life flashes before him.

The Sniper moves slightly and bumps the barrel on the corner of the gunners window, and his rifle falls from the tower onto the ground shooting to the sky. The weapon ruined due to the 30 foot fall.

"F$@K!" Blake hears from the tower.
1/14 fumble!
The rear gunner now speaks "They said you would be stupid enough to return home, just like a nice little doggy" yells the man in an Australian accent. "Sorry mate but I'm afraid I must put you down!"
init 11/2 blake's move

Which of your guns did you grab from the seat of your car? i need to know.

With one danger less Blake sees his chance to finish the firefight and leans over teh barrels and aims at the gunner.
"At least I am not the one who stinks after the rainfall."
Blake shoots.
The deadly one.

Blake takes aim on the Australian menace and fires, the bullet glances the mans shoulder, and his speaking stops.
aimed shot 16/5 hit! even through cover. 1+4+6+1= 12 damage.
ok you have drawn first blood, you do however have 2 attacks, they will counter in a moment. 2 attacks gives you 2 options, you used one to attack, you can hold one back to dodge bullets (because they will counter) if they miss (poor rolls) you keep your attack and will be able to use it at the end of the round. so each round you need to signify that you are holding off one attack for dodging bullets, or use your second attack to shoot again. Also with the 45 you can do an AIMED shot, or a short burst one allows for additional damage with less accuracy, definatly read up on those gun rules.

Blake doesn't hesitate and waits for the reaction of the attackers, but places another carefully aimed shot.
I'll take my chances and hope for the best. I read the rules. Can I do a second and aimed shot?
