Prelude: Sing hey! For the bath at close of day

The Empire lies at the centre of the Old World, bounded by tall mountains and dark forests. It is by far the most populous of the Human nations and claims to be the most powerful. Ruled by the commanding statesmanship of Emperor Karl-Franz, the Empire is a strong bulwark against the foul beasts and blasphemous cults that threaten the stability of the Old World. Gripped by division and confusion, hard times are coming to this powerful country. What has Fate in store for the simple and pious men and women who live at the monastery of St. Adelard?Run by the GM Grimbold

Prelude: Sing hey! For the bath at close of day

Post by Grimbold » Sat Oct 31, 2009 8:28 pm

Gandogar, Sir Wolfgang and Franz follow Sibilla upstairs and after going through a door, they find themselves in a large, long room with a fire going in a fireplace on one side. Opposite the fireplace are four niches, separated by wooden walls. In three of the niches there are wooden tubs filled with water and some towels hanging nearby. There is a chair besides each tub.

"You can put your clothes and equipment on the chairs. Is there anything else you need. We will bring you more hot water just a bit later."

Victor, who also followed the maid, leans over to his companions before they begin to undress. "I hope our hunter will not run into any trouble down there in the common room," he whispers.
Then, after having waited for the maid to leave the room he asks: "What do you think about this strange story about the swamp-insects? It seems rather odd for all the townspeople to have such s sting. Or am I just being paranoid?"

The Knight begins to undress, setting his belongings aside. He keeps one of his knives close at hand always, an extra measure of paranoia present. "I also am concerned. It could be a naturally occurring problem. Swamps tend to breed insects in amazing numbers and varieties. They could be telling the truth." A number of muscles begin to relax as he lowers himself into the hot water of the baths. "But it could be a lie. I shall be displaying constant vigilance until we are safely back at the Monastery."

Gandogar quickly walks over to one of the tubs and starts undressing himself.
"Well, not all o' the people 'ere had a sting, so Ah guess they speak truthfully. If not, we'll will soon find oot."
Involuntarily he reaches over to his neck and rubs it, searching for similar bites as the townspeople have.
"Ah say we try to catch some of them ticks to sell them. Ah could use the money ta be honest with ya. We still 'ave a long trip until we get at our destination, and Ah would like ta buy me some new equipment."
After this the dwarf gently puts one toe in the tub to inspect the temperature of the water. Grunting satisfactionly, he then proceeds to lowering himself fully. washing himself hastily to get out of the bath as soon as he can.

Franz removes his tattered robe and loin cloth throwing them in a heap on the chair. Revealing massive scars upon his back and legs before getting into the tub haphazardly ignoring the temperature of the water...

While the men undress and drop into the tubs, two younger maids and one older one come in every once in a while to bring more hot water, some soap and they also pour smelling fragrances into the water. Soon, the three are dozing off.
...
You are all asleep. Please wait for Franz to act before doing anything.

"The divine curse your thieving soul!!!", Franz bellows outloud as his eyes open and catch the maid rumaging through his things. "Why if I could move I would see that justice was brought to you in the form of flayed flesh!!!". The martyrs body struggling against what ever now holds him fast...

The two others wake up after Franz's yelling but find they cannot move either.
Everyone will take a T test each round to see if they can move. In the first round of moving, you will have -20 on everything, next round -10 and then be back fully. But you need to pass the test first. I will start rolling next round. For now, Franz, Sir Wolfgang and Gandogar can only scream and yell.

The Knight blinks groggily, angry at himself for being taken for a dupe so easily. He yells at the top of his voice, "To arms! Treason and villainy!" He does his best to hoist himself out of the tub, forcing his mind to fight the lethargy put upon him.

Franz: r74 vs 49, fail.
Sir Wolfgang: r35 vs 36, success.
Gandogar: r99 vs 51, fail.
Sir Wolfgang can act, but this round he has -20 on everything.
Everyone struggles against the paralyzing effect of whatever affects them. Only Sir Wolfgang is able to shake off the weakening effects, though his arms and legs still tingle from lack of blood. Voices can be heard downstairs.

The old woman is very surprised that her victims have awakened and are making such a noise. She steps back, panicking, and starts making weird gestures and reciting something in a strange, non-human language.
