Act 6 - The Pallid Plague

The Age of Magic is ended, Bhall, the Goddess of Fire, has succumbed to the whispers of Agares and fallen into Hell. Her worshipers and creations driven mad, and fire, which has been a powerful ally to man, has turned against him. Each good god was charged with the opposition of an evil god. Bhall was responsible for balancing Mulcarn, the God of Winter. Finding himself unopposed Mulcarn has broken The Compact and moved into Creation.

Creation was on the verge of another open war between the gods, that which they had outlawed with The Compact. To keep that from happening a deal was struck and the gods agreed that one god would enter Creation to challenge Mulcarn. That was Sucellus, the God of Nature. The two gods battled across the face of Creation, entire civilizations still recovering from the Burning Skies that marked the fall of Bhall were destroyed by their power. In the end Sucellus was killed and Mulcarn remained.

The Eternal Winter has begun...

She nods a few times listening, "No doubt they want us enslaved or worse, yes its a terrible thought, but can this little town of heartless lumberjacks actually survive if this Seer puts her power to it? Already this snow is choking our efforts simply to move about town. Will it continue if we refuse? I don't know, its a terrible situation. We can't put our faith in Sucellus aiding us now, and even Junil has no power over Winter. I fear it might simply be best if we all moved south. Let Mulcarn have this pitiful little plot of land, its only things, if we all move away. The snow may actually be the only thing that can clean this place up."

Braedon ponders for a brief moment, the thought of moving the towns inhabitants south. Gently rubbing his beard, "Forgive me as I too am very new to town. I would guess the Winter God's radius of influence and power will not simply stop here. Would a move just delay why we sit here today to another?"
Number Two: "You are number six."
Number Six: "I am not a number, I am a free man!"
Number Two: "Muh ha ha ha ha!"

"And will everyone be able to move south?" asks Dreams. "Most people here are only just getting by. I doubt the Lumber Consortium would give people financial help in moving south. Moving might turn people into homeless refugees. At some point, it may be the only option open to people other than slavery or death, but I do not think it is something people will do lightly. And what of the people gathered here, in this church, Falcon's Hollow poor and destitute? Will they be able to move? I'm sure you would do your best to help them, but I would guess your church's resources are limited." She spreads her hand. "I do not pretend there are easy answers, but standing our ground seems like it will mean people will lose the least."

Should we tell her about the artifacts? It might be weapons against Mulcarn...

"You can bet your elven arse the Lumber Consortium isn't about to help anyone here in Falcon's Hollow. Not to move south, not to defend themselves against this coming winter sorcerer, certainly not against Mulcarn." She looks around, "We look out for ours, we know the value of working together for a common goal, even at great costs to one self." She stands up and puts another log on the fire, "I thank you for coming here and telling me what's about to happen. I will take all you have said under consideration. In the end I'm sure what's best for Falcon's Hollow will prevail." She looks to end the conversation and to get back to her duties.

Better not to let people know about the artifacts, even our close allies. The more people know, the more likely word is to get back to Mulcarn's servants, which is trouble we do not need.
Dreams rises and bows, saying, "Thank you for giving us an audience to express our concerns to you. I hope you come to the same conclusions we have, but I know, even if you do not, you will take what you think is the right path, that will serve the people of Falcon's Hollow best, even if we disagree on what that path is."

"Yes, you are right, I shall do what I know to be right." She escorts you to the door, "May the Hand of Justice guide you, and may the wisdom of Farrel light your way." She smiles, and politely says her good-byes to each of you in turn as you leave, out into the cold winter snows.
Next! Plan?

"That seems to be a theme. Everybody wants time to think but time is quickly running out. If they spend too much time thinking they wont have any time to prepare once the Seer shows up." Drak says once they are outside. "Let us hope that their decision doesn't come the day of."

"I'm afraid their decision probably will come at the eleventh hour," Celevan opines. "It's a decision they don't want to make, and one they'll put off as long as possible."

Dreams says, "Decisions made with much thought are often better than ones made in haste. Perhaps it is better that they are thinking things through than making a snap decision." But she doesn't sound like she's sure what she is saying is true.

"So, shall we see the magistrate now?"
