Act 7 - No Shortage of Peril

The Age of Magic is ended, Bhall, the Goddess of Fire, has succumbed to the whispers of Agares and fallen into Hell. Her worshipers and creations driven mad, and fire, which has been a powerful ally to man, has turned against him. Each good god was charged with the opposition of an evil god. Bhall was responsible for balancing Mulcarn, the God of Winter. Finding himself unopposed Mulcarn has broken The Compact and moved into Creation.

Creation was on the verge of another open war between the gods, that which they had outlawed with The Compact. To keep that from happening a deal was struck and the gods agreed that one god would enter Creation to challenge Mulcarn. That was Sucellus, the God of Nature. The two gods battled across the face of Creation, entire civilizations still recovering from the Burning Skies that marked the fall of Bhall were destroyed by their power. In the end Sucellus was killed and Mulcarn remained.

The Eternal Winter has begun...

Dreams nods at Blacklock's words. "Thank you. We do not wish to take the lives of any more guards if we do not have to."

She turns to the others and says, "As for the Crepitus, it is a breed of devil that seeks to corrupt people's hearts and generally cause mischief. This may well be the entity that lead the Baron to worship the Black God. I can remember nothing more about its abilities, so let us be cautious."

"Shall we be on our way? I can take point--I doubt we have much chance of surprising the foul beings that lie in there at this point." As she starts forward, she utters a short prayer to Junil and Lugus and their healing power flows through her.

Before going, Torias will heal anyone else who needs healing, including the guards who surrendered.
channel energy if needed.
No need for the manfeller axe for this, he does not expect the enemies here to be men. So he fastens it on his belt again and readies the Glintaxe. The weapon glows in a bright light. He straps his shield on his back for easy access and to free his hands for spellcasting.
"Kilmorph protects!" he tells Dreams as he touches her shoulder lightly.
Cast protection from evil on Dreams.
"Let's go!" he says. He will walk in the middle, ready for spells or melee as needed.

Drak strokes his beard and nods. "I am ready." He waves off any healing, as Drak wasn't hit at all.
Do any of these creatures mentioned have any energy attacks? I have a bunch of 2nd level slots burning a hole in my robe. I can cast a bunch of resist energies before we go in.

Dreams shakes her head and says to Drak, "I don't know any more about the devil than I told you. I think we're going to have fight them to learn more about them." With that, she advances forward.

Secret Laboratory: Round 1

Post by Vardaen » Wed Mar 07, 2018 6:58 pm

The group is ready, and into the secret door you go. There is a narrow stairwell that goes up to the top level of the tower. Up you go and quickly Dreams and Draks leads the charge into the top most tower chamber.

Four slender black marble columns near the corners of this large octagonal chamber support a twenty-foot-high ceiling. Lanterns affixed to a chain running the length of the ceiling bathe the chamber in harsh red light. Long bookshelves occupy the north and south walls and a pair of large wooden chests sit against the western wall. Two worktables hold a variety of glassware, knives, tubes, clamps, bloody rags, and scraps of parchment. A large pentagram of chalk occupies a spot on the floor between the two worktables. A strange figure apparently stitched together from numerous corpses and covered in metal plates and spikes lies across the pentagram, with tubes connecting the it to various beakers and alembics. Several human corpses lie piled against the southeast wall.

As you arrive a red skinned creature, which must be the Crepitus, lifts its head up from behind the corpse inside the ritual circle. It screams, kicks the golem a few times, causing it to 'wake up' and rise up. It towers over the room, and without a word lifts its hooked arms to attack.

Celeven leaps into action, Drak and Torias just behind him...

Drak's hands and mouth twist and elongate into claws and a maw. He then takes a step forward and lashes out at the large golem creature.

Hopefully this does something to it. Not much room in here to be casting fire spells. :p

Maybe I should have given everyone fire resistance. Haha.

Celevan peers over the railing and quickly calls forth another creature to aid in their defense - another hound archon, that seeming most appropriate for dealing with a fiendish threat. Then he slips a bit further into the room to better lend a hand once the fighting begins in earnest.

The hound archon, finding itself in front of a bona fide devil, strikes out to try and end the crepitus and the threat it poses.

Torias' Spirital Ally, a white, ghostlike flying dwarf with a two handed axe flies to the back of the Golem and attacks him.
And Torias conjures up another ghostly form, a hammer, which also attacks the golem.
Spiritual Ally: moves to back of golem flanking him. He cast it before going up, so 5 or 6 rounds remaining. Sp. Ally can flank.
Cast Spiritual Weapon, attack Golem with it.

Round 1 Celevan 19, Drak 19, Torias 15, Crepitus 12, Dreams 11, Braedon 6, Golem 1
Celevan looks over the rail, summons his Hound once more and then moves into the chamber using the large lab table as cover. His Hound Archon goes to work, its aura causes the Crepitus great discomfort, before the Hound lashes out clawing the devil twice with its divine hands opening good sized wounds on the howling devil's side.

Drak also has claws now, and a maw of draconic teeth. He moves up to the golem, and bites the chest of it, he attempts to slash it but only manages to push himself off the armored flesh of the great thing. Its hard to tell, but it seems he did some minor damage to its chest.

Then Torias' Spiritual Ally floats up the stairs and around the room. It lands a strike on the golem, but while it hit it straight on, it did absolutely nothing to it. He summons a floating weapon of pure spiritual force that hits, and also does nothing what so ever to the golem.

The red skinned devil laughs and laugh, "You fools! Run away, your spells are of no use! This no fight you can win. Ahahahaha..." *zoink* it vanishes from sight and is gone.
