Mei-Li grits her teeth against the pain. She has no desire to trying using her bow in melee combat, so she quickly drops it on the ground, hoping it doesn't get trampled, and draws her staff, hoping she will have more luck with it.
Free action: Drop bow.
Ready staff.
Defense: Parry if possible, dodge if not.

Xun-Wen 6.1, Fang Chou 6, Mei-Li 5.75, Tong Guards 5, Thugs 5[/i
]

Mei-Li drops her bow to the ground and whips her bo staff off her back. She prepares to defend herself using the staff to parry the club that will surely be swung in her direction again.

Drop bow, ready staff.
No kicks and punches? ;)

The Tong Guards get the better of their adversaries now. The first staff is smashed against one man's shoulder, and the next smashes into the man's ribs, certainly breaking them as the thug falters into a heap and cry of pain. The man with the broken arm says nothing, simply climbing onto his horse and preparing to leave.

TG1: Attack vs. T1 = 4, Critical Hit
Hit Location: Body
Critical: Treat as Major Wound Regardless of Damage

The first thug is still feeling injured from the hit on the shoulder and is forced to punch anyway, missing badly. The second man just sits there, holding his broke ribs. The last attacks Mei-Li again, but she is prepared, swatting away the club with her staff.

T1: Attack TG1: 11 vs. 10 - 3 (Shock) = 7, Fail
T2: Stunned (Do Nothing)
T3: Attack Mei-Li: 7, Success

Changing his posture to compensate for his hurt leg, Xun-Wen keeps pressing his attack, aiming at Fang Chou's head and then far lower. "There's something I wanted to return to you," he says.

Xun-Wen 6.1, Fang Chou 6, Mei-Li 5.75, Tong Guards 5, Thugs 5
Xun-Wen slips a punch forward in an attempt to smash Fang Chou's face, but the magistrate moves at the last moment, avoiding the blow. When Xun-Wen kicks, he is slightly off balance, missing the secondary attack as his foot comes up short of the groin.

"You really are pathetic," Fang Chou says, "Your school is a joke. Your style is a joke. You are a joke!"

Fang Chou leans forward, throwing a quick punch at Xun-Wen's throat. The punch goes wide, though, as the Xun-Wen leans back ever so slightly after his own attack.

Mei-Li swings her staff at the thug in front of her, hoping that she can bring him down soon. Xun-Wen looks like he really needs some help against Fang Chou. If there are too of them fighting the magistrate, they might actually be able to take him down--but for now she focuses on the fight in front of her.
Attack Thug #3 with staff.
Defense: Parry.

"You think that my style is bad?" Xun-Wen asks as he brings up a knee. "Yours is just as a bad and at least I'm not the henchman of someone else."

The martial arts student keeps up his attack, impressed how long Fang Chou was able to evade him.

Xun-Wen 6.1, Fang Chou 6, Mei-Li 5.75, Tong Guards 5, Thugs 5
Again, Haya, there's not description about the second attack. Please be more descriptive.
Xun-Wen's knee whips forward, hoping to slam it into Fang Chou's leg. The magistrate is struck, but Xun-Wen knows the impact was less than devastating. His follow-up chopping action with his hand is evaded, Fang Chou sidestepping to avoid it.
