Prelude: Mountains, Fur, and Problems

[Vardaen]

Holt rides behind the others heading for the Dalton Gang...

[Hayabusa]

Cole rides behind the pair of men the deputy recruited, following them, but keeps an eye open if the Dalton Gang was smart enough to leave a spotter somewhere who could warn them from the deputy.

[TetNak]

The four riders move northeast. They follow a small trail that winds around a small pond. On the other side of the pond is a three story house. "There it is," the deputy says. There ride only lasted ten minutes, so, if the murder fled here, he is surely already inside.

"There are a bunch of windows on each floor," the deputy says, stopping his horse. "They'll have any advantage if we are stuck outside in a firefight."

[Hayabusa]

"Then we better get our asses inside," Cole says, drawing his rifle from the saddle. "How do you want to do it? Just ride there and dismount as close as possible?

[Vardaen]

Holt scans the grouns around the house for any sort of cover, rain barrels, hitching posts, fences, trees, other horses. Looking for horses he attempts to assesss how many might be in the house. "How many Daltons are there?"

[TetNak]

The deputy answers, "There's four of them that we know of," he says, "Of course, like I said, those whores might try to kill us too."

[Hayabusa]

"Yeah, I remember that. But if they choose to do it, then they know how it can end for them," Cole shrugs. He wouldn't hesitate to shoot a woman if she aims a gun at him. "So how're we going to do it? I never stormed a building. Elks don't hide inside..."

[TetNak]

The deputy says, "We could burn them out? I personally don't give a shit for anyone inside."

[Hayabusa]

"That's fortunate, because they don't give a shit about us either," Cole replies. "And I like your idea. Let's smoke them out and shoot them when they come through the doors or windows."

[TetNak]

The deputy considers, "Well, wish I would have thought of this before," he says, "I don't have a lantern or anything." He looks at the others, "We could grab some brush and run it up to the house ... but whoever did that would be put in some danger. Both coming and going."
