The Broken World:
It has been 400 hundred years since the world as we know it burned itself to the ground. Mankind, being the self destructive race that is started a war it could not end. The Nuclear winter that ensued killed all but less than one percent of the total human population. The few thousand survivors emerged from the ashes 150 years later to find that the world had been reclaimed by the hands of Gaia.
They set to work trying to eek out what existance they could and have since built large settlements. Through the loss of knowledge and technology reverting back to a sort of Iron age mentality. However not all was bleak, from the ashes of the old world the arts of magic were reborn like a phoenix. Some people possess the gifts needed to use this great power. However... while magic may be neutral, people are still the same creatures they always were and though good exists, men are easily corrupted.
