Two decades have passed since the Second Death Star was destroyed over the forest moon of Endor. The Alliance to Restore the Republic became the New Republic and eventually defeated the remnants of the Empire, who called themselves the Imperial Remnant. After decades of galactic civil war, the galaxy came to relative peace.
But soon another threat emerged from space, far beyond the known borders of the galaxy. The Yuuzhan Vong, a humanoid species that had destroyed their own galaxy, were coming to conquer and subdue every form of life. Having sent spies and infiltrators long before they arrived, they were able to stir up small rebellions on hundreds of worlds and made their populations believe that they would be spared during the invasion. One of their vicious plans involved the Luke Skywalker's New Order: the Yuuzhan Vong announced that they were searching for the Jedi and everyone who delivered them won't be killed when they had conquered the galaxy.
Certain organizations even begun hunting Jedi and the Republic was almost forced to either hand over the whole Order or protect the Jedi, which angered many who actually believed that they would be spared.
As the Yuuzhan Vong waged war against the New Republic, their capture and terraforming of Coruscant and the destruction of the Jedi Praxeum on Yavin 4, the government slowly broke apart, until newly elected Chief of State Cal Omas united the remaining members of the Republic to withstand the invaders. After the overwhelming victory at Ebaq 9, Luke Skywalker searched for a solution to the Yuuzhan Vong problem, because they were not only conquering the galaxy, but also destroyed the ecosystems of several planets to make them suitable to their needs. The Jedi Master persuaded the Imperial Remnant to join Cal Omas' refounded Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, before he visited the Chiss Ascendancy who knew where Skywalker could find the mysterious sentient planet Zonama Sekot.
The Galactic Alliance and their allies defended against a huge fleet of Yuuzhan Vong, while another attacked Coruscant, which had been declared to be the new home world of the invaders. Luke Skywalker and his nephew Jacen Solo defeated the Supreme Overlord Shimrra and the rest of the Yuuzhan Vong surrendered. The sentient planet, Zonama Sekot, revealed itself to be the seed of the long-dead original Yuuzhan Vong homeworld after the war was over and many of the former invaders settled on the planet while a few remained behind to help rebuilding what they had destroyed over the course of the Yuuzhan Vong War.
Only six years later the Killiks reappeared in the Unknown Regions after they have left the known space 30.000 years earlier. The Colony, as the leadership of the Killik's called themselves, was struggling for surival and expaneded into Chiss space. But the Chiss Ascendancy was very protective towards their own territory, since the Chiss never sought expansion themselves. Led by a Jedi who had vanished during the war against the Yuuzhan Vong and manipulated by another Killik nest, the Dark Nest, the Colony waged a war against the Chiss Ascendancy. The interruption of Luke Skywalker secured a very short peace that quickly broke out into a conflict between the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, the Chiss Ascendancy and the Colony and their allies from many members of the galaxy's various insectoid races. The short conflict was ended a year later, when Luke Skywalker defeated the infuential Dark Nest's leader Lomi Plo, a Nightsister and a Sith Master, who was manipulating the Colony with her nest.
Another period of peace followed the defeat of the Killiks, who reverted to their original state. While much of the galaxy had been ravaged by the Yuuzhan Vong War, Corellia emerged relatively unscathed, placing it in a position to increase its already impressive economic power and offer reconstruction loans to less fortunate planets. As Corellia prospered, it forgave wartime criminals like Thrackan Sal-Solo, a cousin of the famous Han Solo, who was subsequently elected the system's Minister of War and Head of State of Corellia, and began to chafe under the Galactic Alliance as it had the New Republic and Galactic Republic before it. In secret, Corellia began building a fleet comparable to a planetary assault force, supplied by planets like Adumar that produced weapons in violation of Galactic Alliance law. Meanwhile, Corellian scientists worked to bring an ancient space station that was capable of moving entire planets with its tractor beams called Centerpoint Station online, hoping to once again use it as leverage in any negotiations with the Galactic Alliance...
