Withdrawn: One man, one vote

Post by Deadman » Tue Feb 19, 2008 8:41 pm

All votes will be counted as 1, in the spirit of true democracy. A proposal to alter this rule must pass unanimously and have support of at least three founders.

NAY.

The spirit of the law is good. The clause to alter it is not.

The clause is a protection to prevent anyone's vote from being taken away. All voters, including immigrants and citizens, must also support it. A single NAY kills any proposal. The clause isn't a loophole to change this rule. It's a hurdle to prevent anyone from changing it.

I'm against rules that "remove themselves from the game" by having clauses which limit the ability to alter them.

Rules such as these are the easiest abused.

It's illegal to "completely" take away someone's vote, but you could make one person's count as three votes, or another's only count for half. You could basically make someone's vote too weak to matter.

Yeah, rules that remove themselves from the game are bad, but I think this is one law we want protected. Maybe we can pass a rule to prevent unbreakable rules though.

That is possible, I'd rather an amendment that you cannot make a person's vote count for less than 1. With no silly clauses.
