Following are files about historic people on Shadowrift MUSH. These are both previous player characters and non-player characters. Of course this might not all be prefectly the same for Tet's game, but it should help out with the big named people for those unfamiliar with Shadowrift.

Aranchor the Lord of the Twisted Mane.

Aranchor, surnamed Dor'falaich, is Lord of the mysterious House of the Twisted Mane, one of the chiefest of Carnac's aristocratic families. He has also, since the time of its founding, held the position of Captain of the Crimson Guard; and had, since the defection of Daerith Dreadblade, held sole title to that position until he vanished. Known both for the courtliness of his manner and the ruthlessness of his will, Aranchor commanded the Guard with an iron fist, and the ubiquitous and universally feared presence of his troops throughout the city has made him a man whose influence and power were second only to the Dark Prince Athaval's, his only lord. Having succeeded his former master, he ruled the City of Carnac through force and propaganda, with only the mysterious Resistance standing in the way of his total control.

Little else is known for certain about this figure, save that he is a warrior and swordsman such that few in all Ethera could best him in single combat. What else might lurk beneath the surface of this fair yet darkly sinister figure is but a matter of speculation, even among his closest associates. What can be said is that he is, beyond all else, is a Dark Born not to be trifled with.

Original Theme: Aranchor died at the hands of Daerith during the years just before the Last Rift War.

Athaval the Dark Prince of Carnac.

Not many years ago the Free City of Carnac was in turmoil. Dark forces played in the streets of The Maze, while merchants stole from pockets of their patrons. Then came Athaval a minor figure in the underhive of Carnac. Through the execution of his will he came to power as the Dark Prince of the city, his personal warriors, the Crimson Guard came to rule the city under his name. Order came to the chaos of the city for a short time, but Athaval dabbled in forces to strong for him.

He sold his soul to Raughir and became one of the Dark Born along side his love Kuselda. Their romance with death would last only so long, and Athaval vanished after his lovers rumoured death. His Captain, Aranchor, seized the opportunity and the city not long after. No one can say for certain what happened to the Dark Born lovers Athaval and Kuselda.

Avargurth the Refuser of Death. Shaper of Bone and Flesh.

Of the Fiends from Rhintra, Avargurth is the simplest. A creature consumed with hate and rage, but posessed of massive powers. In the days of Uruadum forging it was Avargurth that first dabbled in the arts of Necromancy. The living dead soon filled his armies ranks -- skeletons, zombies, ghouls, ghasts, hecuvas, and other mindless creations fought at his command.

Yet he did not experiment far enough, and it was Raevnos that was to prefect these Dark Arts. They forged a bond together durning the War Years, and when Avargurth fell in battle it was Raevnos that brought the Fiend back into the realm of man. When Raevnos was banished and fled into the hidden realm of Alazandra Avargurth went with him, and so made himself an enemy of Raughir his life long master.

Original Theme: Avargurth during the Last Rift War fighting against the Druids.

Daerith Dreadblade

The tales surrounding the new lord of Aramon are many and colorful. It is widely known that in his early days he lived as Darren D'Aramon with his father, mother and sister. When his home was destroyed under mysterious circumstances, Daerith is said to have fled south, ending his journey within the walls of Carnac. Some say he was a bounty hunter during his days in Carnac, others say he was an assassin working under the control of Carnac's Dark Prince Athaval. What is known for certain is that the one time Captain of that city's Crimson Guard defected, taking with him priceless information about Drakkar's underworld. Taken in by Palamon D'Anadel, the young swashbuckler was escorted to Cahadram where he was placed on trial for the crimes that led him from his Durnalian homeland. These crimes included the murder of Prince Kellinan's Cousin, Robert the Loguire. Proven innocent by combat, Daerith was given his ancestral lands and title, and a captaincy in the Knights of the Sword. Now Daerith's eyes are focussed on Carnac, and all of his thoughts and words speak of a fierce vengeance for what truly made him leave that city...

Original Theme: Daerith was one of the "Chosen" and escaped the devestation of Raughir's death at Funeng.

The Ghast. Phantom of Uruadum.

In the Southlands, there are those who do not fall under the will of Raughir, men who pave their own destiny. One such enigma has done just that. Known to those in Uruadum as the Ghast, no name, or alliance to form a companionship. Throughout Uruadum the name reminds those to look over their shoulder, wonder if some ghostly form was stalking them; by the time the look came it was too late. The Ghast made a name for himself by working as a bounty hunter, mercenary, and spy for the aristocratic houses of Lun'sar. Much is unknown about the Ghast, but all have heard the famous Yuitoy Edict of the Wasp Queen. 'Standing if a fog a gray, a gray ghost came to me. In human form his devilish eyes looked into mine, and it said, 'I am the Ghast, for you I shall know no boundary.' Yet I was deceived, and from this day, the phantom will look over his back while in my province and beyond.' None truly know what had happened, but it was obvious that the Wasp Queen was not happy. There are many rumors to such a feud, such as a love affair gone bad, an attempted usurp of her throne, and even that he held strange magics that the Wasp Queen coveted. Whichever it may be, there is one truth, the Ghast is a phantom no more as his destiny takes shape for all Eretha to behold.

Gothuga Commander of Durcarrack Fortress, First Born of the Drakkloth.

First-born of his race, he is the most powerful of his kind. With ties throughout the world, and spies everywhere, he serves Raughir's wish. His army continues to grow, and he constantly reaches outward towards the surrounding cultures.

Original Theme: Gothuga died a glorious death in the Last Rift War.

Kuselda, Foundress and first Madame of the Dusky Rose. Dark Born.

The early years of the girl Kusha Eldan's life are lost to the mists of time and the shadows of Carnac's streets and twisted alleyways; her true story began when she was first found, alone and selling her body, by the man named Athaval den'Tarien, at the time the Master of the shadowy Thieves' Guild. Seeing something in her that no-one else had ever seen, the wealthy lord of the underworld aided the girl in establishing her own business--the infamous Dusky Rose--and the pair soon became lovers.

When Athaval disbanded the Thieves' Guild and took sole control of the Free City's seamy underworld, it was Kuselda and her 'girls' who spread his name as the Dark Prince, and it was well known that no man would touch her for fear of his wrath. When the Prince sold his soul, hers was soon to follow, and they enjoyed a brief reign of unheard-of prosperity before the curse of eternal life and living damnation caught up to them. Kuselda disappeared, rumoured dead, and her lover was soon gone to the knowledge of men and Dark Born alike.

Original Theme: Kuselda's fate was never known.

Linsaki the Wasp Queen. Lady of the Swamp.

Linsaki is the ruler of a province in Uruadum named Lun'sar. Oldest of Dark Born that now walk in public she is feared and loved by her consorts and subjects. From the sunken city of Roku'lin she rules the central province of Uruadum with an iron first. Ever seeking to expand her control in Uruadum she moves in shadows and few feel her touch until it is too late. She is loyal to Raughir, or better put loyal to Raughir's empire.

Original Theme: Linsaki survived the Last Rift War and is a major antagonist of the Akarian Dawn mythology.

Lothengwa the Sickening Flower. Mistress of the Night. Keeper of Lies.

The fifth Fiend to come from the Rift was Lothengwa. The Fiends bare shape and forms of men, save for Lothengwa Queen of Darkness. In the histories of the world little is told of the doing of the Daughter of Raughir, for she worked towards her own goals, seldom seen even by the Demon Lord. Legends tell of evil spirits of fears come to material shape in nearly every culture, many guess that in truth they were the doings of Lothengwa.

Seldom seen in the politics of man, she came twice into recent histories. The first when she was called upon for aide in the Great War to do battle with the Dragons. Again when Saurgoth and Raevnos bickered over domination for the Queen. In the end Raevnos would be bannished, and Saurgoth would find her unwilling to wed. She left again soon after and settled at Funeng the Darkspire off the east coast of Akar.

Original Theme: She aided in the defeat of the Druids, but survived, and then aided in the defeat of the Black Tower of Durnalis and survived. Her workings caused the Rift to open. She presumably survived the Last Rift War, but none have heard from her since.

Maslo Hammersfell: Servent of Bone, Sightless of Carnac

Maslo was born into the house of Hammersfell not too long ago. Physically weak (though incredibly smart) he was never liked by any of his cousins. When the lad turned thirteen, he began his apprenticeship to the Sightless under the guidance of an uncle. The apprentice priest tried his best to learn the most about Necromancy and Raughir, wanting the magical power promised to him inorder to make up for his weak body. Fanatically loyal to Raughir, he posed as a street urchin, suffering the ill effects of such alife in order to gather info for the order. Nearly done with his apprenticeship, only time will tell what lies in store for him next.

Original Theme: Maslo's fate was never known.

Mornaur the Black Fire. Spirit Lord of Tadkar. The Lost Fiend.

When the Fiends from beyond the Shadow Rift were given to Raughir as servants, Mornaur was among them. A master of fire and earth, he consumed the land that was given to him turning it to waste. He did such in both Tadkar of Uruadum, and the southern regions of Rogothain during the Great War of Shadows.

In that war he lost his life, devoured by the oldest of dragons Morghash. His death caused the sanity of Morghash to be broken and his rage and wrath has lived on in the twisted mind of Morghash. Once lost to Ethera his workings failed and the land revolted into burning wastes and volcanic mountains. Cults still live on in the desolate lands that worship the Fiend of Fire and Earth.

Original Theme: Mornaur is dead at this point, only a few of his Dark Born surviving. Unnaur chief among them.

Raughir Durrog, the Dungwalme of Uruadum. Demon Lord of Ethera.

He is Evil Incarnate. The chief servent of the Undead God Rhintrah, it is his task to subjegate all of the known world. Not seen in ages in the north however, he has been content to rule his empire of Uruadum with little threat of violence until recently. Taking on the form of man, he has walked unknown among the streets of Carnac, and claim lord ship over it in the name of Cil ra-Durrog. The most powerful of creatures Raughir has however been vanquished for a time by one of his own subjects and The White Sword of Anadel. Though much of this is not known to the public.

Original Theme: Raughir retakes his form and walks the earth sparking the Last Rift War. He falls under The White Sword during the final battle at Funeng opposed by the "Chosen" and betrayed by his greatest general Saloh Asfarix.

Saurgoth the Abhorrent Master. Lord of Aduunwath and Dogon Saunri.

When the world was young Saurgoth was born beyond The Rift. Forged of darkness and evil, Rhintrah the God of the Damned sent him to Raughir as his chief servant. Four other Fiends were given to the Demon Lord Raughir, but Saurgoth is the chief among them. A master of men, a teacher of sin, he has had a hand in all that Raughir has done on Ethera.

He rules the Shifting Sands of Dogon Saunri on the Southern Tip of Uruadum and has most recently returned to the North as the Lord of Aduunwath in Northern Drakkar. His minions are of all orders and species and span the globe to do his bidding. God-like he is unmatched in skill of arms, and in the Riftmagic he wields, save for the Demon Lord Raughir himself.

Original Theme: He perished destroying the Druids and their tower alongside Avargurth in the start of the Last Rift War.

The Warlock, Serpent of Uruadum. Dark Born Necromancer.

The entire existence of the creature known as The Warlock is clouded by mystery. Tales of this servant of Saurgoth are spoken, however, though usually exaggerated and filled with half-truths. Some say his mortal life began, and ended in Carnac. While other contend that he was a man of Uruadum, perhaps an Imperial General, or of another high rank. There is a great deal of speculation regarding when he was born, and reborn. The range is vast, from several hundred years ago to even this generation. Whichever is true, one thing is known for certain, his powers as a Necromancer and Dark Born were nearly unequalled.

Certainty does not reach far along the path of The Warlock's existence however. His known works as an agent of Saurgoth are nearly non-existent, by design or otherwise. Tales of great undead armies at his command are rumored, though few can vouch for the validity or falsehoods of these claims. He will not be forgotten, most likely throughout all Eretha. His existence seemed to have one purpose, which at only the end did he accomplish, and accomplish only by his folly. This is the 'Coming of the Sixth' as it is called. The Sixth Fiend. The Warlock's power was great, and in his attempt to claim a servant from the other side of the Rift he was destroyed. His soul being claimed by the being from the other side, 'The Sixth.'

Original Theme: Surviving the Last Rift War by drawing on The Sixth, he manafested 60 years later in Tenigul and was slain at last by the combined might of Akun Asfarix and a strange man named Halos. The Warlock's death was part of a plot on the Akarian Dawn MUSH that ended only a short while ago.

Raevnos the Stray. Foe of Raughir, Deserter of Fate.

The second of the Fiends is Raevnos. Born beyond the Shadow Rift alongside the others of his kind he was from the start gifted with a greater understanding of magic than any man might ever hope to gain. It was Raevnos who took the Dark Arts of Necromancy to a new level and created willful undead. Shades of his first dablings still roam the mountains northwest of Uruadum beyond his former realm of Hirratak. Yet each of these creations ares small in comparison to his master piece -- The Dark Born. Lesser fiends, much like vampires of tales, the Dark Born are few and powerful.

Raevnos grew greedy and unhappy with his role in Raughir's empire, but did not act against the Demon Lord. Not until Lothengwa came between him and Saurgoth. Down came tower, and death spread through a city until the Demon Lord came to stop the battling two. He could do little at the time against the anger of Raughir and so he fled taking Avargurth with him. Someplace in Alazandra they came and still yet reside.

Original Theme: Avargurth returned to Raughir's side during the Last Rift War but Raevnos would not. He survived the war and controls Alazandra now.

Unnaur the First Fire

Unnaur was the first Dark Born that Mornaur the Black Flame created. He was born of fire and death and wielded great magics. He served his lord unwillingly and always sought escape from the Great Fiend. When Mornaur perished at the hands of the great dragon, Unnuar survived in tact while the rest of Mornuar's Dark Born went insane.

The Dark Born hide himself in Uruadum for ages building his power and working toward his own ends until the Last Rift War where he held the passes between Tadkar and Durnalis until Raughir's fall. He survived the war unlike many other Dark Born when the Rift was sealed.

Originial Theme: He survived the Last Rift War and is currently and active character on the Akarian Dawn MUSH (Mine!)
