SR Theme: Carnac City Layout

Sprawled about the northwest spur of Mount Arabel in the Caran Mountain chain, just northeast of the dark realm of Drakkar, the Free City of Carnac is built around the Broadway, an arterial that runs east from the gates to the Main Square. About the Main Square are arranged the Bazaar, the City Hall, and the ruins of the ancient Calderan Governor's palace, further up the mountain.

The walls of the city circle most of Carnac, although they have fallen into disrepair and in some cases crumbled where they meet the mountain walls. It is here--supposedly--that the alleged Temple of Raughir lies.

North of the Broadway is The Maze, that part of the Free City which has contributed most heavily to its image among foreigners as a place of crime and debauchery. By far the largest portion of the city, the squalor of the Maze and its rotting tenements lies in the shadow of the northern walls. The Maze holds many secrets, and its denizens are perhaps the most dangerous men and women on the continent.

South of the Broadway, the only remaining architecture of the original Elven builders stands. Most if not all of these regal structures have been converted into manors and estates for the wealthy.

Beneath the city are the infamous Sewers of Carnac, a place even filthier and deadlier than The Maze itself.
