I was thinking that somehow a virus or program was installed on you that blocks access to everything you know. That would be a huge plot hook for you. You have the knowledge in your internal databases that could rock the world as everyone knows it.

I like that idea. I'm assuming character would know there's stuff locked away in her databases that she doesn't have access. Stuff she knows she knows but doesn't know.

Could be. You could go the other way and say your character doesn't even know they are an android.

We can work through that whichever you'd prefer.

It's been several centuries since the Great Erasure, hasn't it? My character would have to know that she's different in some way, that she's not a normal human, but some sort of mechanical-electronic being. She has to know that if she's going to physically maintain herself and avoid detection by the authorities, who I am sure would love to open her up and examine her, and the Starseekers, who probably would see her as blasphemy embodied.

But it would certainly be interesting if much of my character's past, including her origin and what exactly she is and how she was made and whether there are others like her, remains a mystery to her.

That's true. Unless you were inert for many years after the Great Erasure. We can work on the background, I'm good either way you want to go. You'd probably have to have been hidden in some way for much of the time, or your agelessness would be obvious.

I don't mind having been inert for some of that period, but I still want to be at least partially aware of what I am. What are some of the ways my character might have remained hidden? Hiding out on portions of the ship that are uninhabitable by humans, whether due to radiation or exposure to vacuum?

Could be. Could be you simply just moved around - the Destiny is a pretty big place.

Also, I'm still not 100% sure about Savage Worlds, btw.

That's all right. While I'd like to check out Savage Worlds, ultimately, it's the other players and the GM that make for a good game, not the system (well, unless it's a really bad system). And you have an intriguing setting here.

I just don't know if I have time to devote to learning a whole new system right now.

If I would run GURPS, I would run the ultra simplistic version, but it tends to run people off.
