Re: Character Chatter
I'm system agnostic. I've played GURPS and when I don't have to figure out the math I'm fine with it.
As for character type I've been mulling over either a doctor who treats everyone both up and done the social strata (think Jacques Sauniere in the Rex Mundi comics) or an investigator who works for one of the Lords Paramount(think Randell Garrett's Lord Darcy.) In the first case my skills would be tied to healing and contacts knowing folks who I have saved who feel they owe me a debt. In the second it would be about access (having carte blanche to investigate mysteries on behalf of the lord) and fisticuffs/bladework.

Re: Character Chatter
This brings up a good point. Medicine is as backward as everything else. We're talking medieval levels of knowledge here.

Re: Character Chatter
Which is good or I'll recognize the android right away.
I'm OK with that, that said even medieval medecine was sometimes right (knowing which herbs were good vs. infection, cleaning the wound and bleeding to remove the bad humors etc.)
I'm also OK with going the investigator route. Like I said just kicking around ideas that give me access to areas of the Destiny many might not get into.

Re: Character Chatter
Right. As far as carte blanche access to stuff, good luck with that. You could be a constable for a Lord, I could see that.

Re: Character Chatter
Carte Blanche was perhaps an overstatement but I meant more access to areas and people that would normally be outside of my ken based on my rank.

Re: Character Chatter
Maybe, maybe not. Politics and power are far more important to nobles than justice.

Re: Character Chatter
I think what I'd like to do is to have my character know that she's an android--and also to know that part of her databanks are corrupted or inaccessible to her. But she doesn't know her own origins, she doesn't know how she lost access to so much of her databanks, and she remembers just enough from before the Great Erasure to realize how much was lost--but not anything specific enough to have access to information others don't.
I was thinking she may have spent much of the last few centuries in sleep mode in an inaccessible part of the ship ... but something (she doesn't know what) recently causes her to wake up and start interacting with people again. It could be some event triggered the wake-up--or it could have been a glitch in her own software. She isn't sure.
How does that sound?

Re: Character Chatter
For system, I am aiming for either Saga SW or d20 Modern/Future. I might bend if everyone begs for WH40k or GURPS.
What do you guys think?
