Prelude - Cutting Teeth

It's been twelve long years since "The Year of the Comet" and Japan was forced to issue orders that would withdraw their troops from the surrounding regions of their Empire in order to help rebuild their devastated Homeland. Now, over a decade after the "Ring of Fire" incident later, the Land of the Rising Sun seeks to regain its former foothold in these lands long since abandoned by any serious forms of a military presence. Among the Corporations seeking to gain favor in their Emperor's eyes, Mitsuhama, Renraku, & Shiawase stand out as the three most prominent ones to do so. Having already slipped in favor in the past, Renraku Corporation has vowed to do so with fervency and once more reclaim their Number One position amongst the others. Enter our Players and Game.

House of the Rising Sun is a Shadowrun campaign set in the year 2073. Players assume the roles of a band of runners that is hired on under Renraku Retainer. Their goal, that of reestablishing and maintaining a proper foothold in their Employer''s formerly dominated territories outside Japan. Missions will include: Lots of Wetwork, Political Espionage, an occasional Milk Run or two, as well as Lots and Lots of Para-military Activity. After all, in an Imperial Empire filled with nothing but Blood-thirsty Corporate Cutthroats and Sneaky Underhanded Backstabbers, there can really only be one House that truly rises to the occasion and outshines the rest. Can you help Renraku become the House? Join the ranks of the House of the Rising Sun today!

Leviathan arches his eyebrows at his sister's words to the troll, but says nothing. Her tastes are her business. Instead he heads in, nodding politely at the bikers, but walking toward Fatboy and Slim's quarters.

"The name suits you" Lyssa agreed as she stepped through the doorway, amusingly the empathy software made it sound like a complement. Well, she didn't want to hang around the bar, so she followed Leviathan without any lingering.

Point's words seem to be all but lost on Dingo. One of the bikers outside the bar however, chimes in teasingly with "Oi Lunkhead! The Asian Misses wants to take you out on a date!" The feral troll pays the biker no mind and merely snorts and shakes an unseen chill from his massive furred body. Turning his attention to the men fighting upon the ground, Dingo then leers wickedly. "PLAY!!!" he gravels eagerly. Three of the bikers fighting in the dirt immediately cease what they're doing and race inside the bar. Those left outside and unfortunate to hear the big troll's comments are soon tossed about like soiled linen.

Getting past the bikers outside proves to be tense at best but ultimately doable. The group soon finds themselves inside the 'Hole and making their way towards the bar. Loud music continues to blast about the place as a dozen or so Rebels' bikers all but wreck the joint. The gang's banner hangs proudly over the bar, displaying their colors and logo to all: a flaming cybered-chrome skull wearing a grey Johnny Reb cap on top of a worn Confederate Flag flanked on either side with the words "Rebel Power!"

A greasy, dour looking man in his forties tends the bar. He gives the group a wary look then glances over to one end of the bar. Seated at that end of the bar is an attractive raven-haired woman with the physicality of a professional bodybuilder and decked out in biker leathers. The woman nods to the bartender and he in turn motions for the group to head on back. Making their way to the back of the bar, the group soon finds themselves in front of an all-too-familiar freight elevator leading down to Fatboy's Chop Shop below.

Standing inside of the elevator and just about to close the gated door shut is a vaguely familiar figure.

Smoke sifts in the air from the self-rolled cigarette hanging off the man's lips.

The man's dirty blond hair is brushed forward, which certainly does nothing to appease the widow's peak on his hairline. He wears dark, trendy, sunglasses that totally obscure his eyes.

He wears a stylish grey coat, and underneath a black suit. Everyone knows him through reputation. The man's been the topic of rumors and conversation. Many people just call him "the German", or even more so, "Gun." Whatever his real name is he isn't telling.

Looking as cliche as a hitman can, Gun pauses before closing the gate door, the man just waits until the others file in. "Guten Abend," he says, not opening his mouth enough to let the rolled tobacco be jostled or fall from his lips.

Leviathan nods at Gun and says, "Greetings. I assume your presence here is no coincidence and that you will be joining us for our meeting with Fatboy and Slim. It will be nice to have another hand along for whatever they have in mind for us."

"Good evening. It's always good to have have a good gun with you," Point says waiting for someone to get the elevator going.

"Going down," Gun says, pushing the button that will take them to their destination. The German does not say whether or not he's apart of their gang for whatever assignment they've gotten. He also does not correct Point when she assumes that is the case.

MOOD MUSIC

Having entered the freight elevator and met their new potential new teammate, the group heads down the proverbial "Rabbit Hole" to Fatboy's lair. A heavy rumble shakes the elevator as Gun spurs it into motion. The thing is quite obviously in need of repair. Nevertheless, the party soon finds themselves gliding along smoothly enough for 20 meters or so beneath the surface of the earth, eventually coming to a stop and exiting the elevator unto the bottom level of Fatboy's makeshift chop shop.

A distinct and high-pitched whirring noise is heard coming from this level of the chop shop and about a dozen or so varied workers can be seen busying themselves with whatever activity is normally accustomed to being found in such a place. Thin plumes of black and white smoke can be seen rising atop the industrially and mechanically induced sparks of Fatboy's chosen profession and trade. Some strange looking ATV can likewise be seen whizzing and whirring its way about the former parking garage towards the group. Inside it, Fatboy himself.

"Oi!" the greasy, smelly dwarf cries out, having squealed the vehicle to an abrupt "arced" halt in front of the party and popped the lid to it's top open. "I'll be damned! You wankers finally made it!" Fatboy quickly hops out of the ATV and tosses the keys to Point without comment. He then states snidely, "A pleasure as always ladies..." to the group and motions for them all to follow him back to his private office, adding; "Shall we?"

Point grins, catching the keys. "You talk like a cracked out gaishō, but it's hard not to admit that whatever you fix up is erai work." The Japanese walks along it, running a hand over the dark coat. She turns slightly to speak to her half-brother. "Same ruthenium coating one can get for a suit so it can be a bright yellow beacon or as black as the night. I also wanted to get get some amphibious upgrades but I couldn't afford it for now." She turns to the dwarf. "Now I -have- to do some runs for you or I won't be able to mount a gauss gun on it."
