Prologue: As The Crow Flies

It's been twelve long years since "The Year of the Comet" and Japan was forced to issue orders that would withdraw their troops from the surrounding regions of their Empire in order to help rebuild their devastated Homeland. Now, over a decade after the "Ring of Fire" incident later, the Land of the Rising Sun seeks to regain its former foothold in these lands long since abandoned by any serious forms of a military presence. Among the Corporations seeking to gain favor in their Emperor's eyes, Mitsuhama, Renraku, & Shiawase stand out as the three most prominent ones to do so. Having already slipped in favor in the past, Renraku Corporation has vowed to do so with fervency and once more reclaim their Number One position amongst the others. Enter our Players and Game.

Ms. Takeshi's god-nieces pout sullenly. They genuinely seem to enjoy Crow's company and don't wish to see him leave their company. Most likely stemming from the simple fact that magic-users are a rare commodity amongst the Japanese; one with a mischievous streak and actual sense of humor even rarer. Nonetheless, they comply to their Aunt's wishes and to those of their fellow runner, content enough for now to simply continue on to the airport. The trip is made without incident and within an hour's time, the three companions meet up with their contacts.

"Follow me," a black suit wearing individual comments brusquely to Crow once the group has arrived, "We have a plane to catch." Another man nowhere as nearly as charismatic as Crow; skinny and wiry, Asian; approaches the two nieces and bows formally. <Jap.>"I am Hiroshi, your new escort. Pleasure to make your acquaintances."</Jap.> The two women give Crow a pouting farewell and then proceed to leave the airport. "Be safe Crowsie!" chimes Kissy with a blown kiss to her former protector. "Yeah," adds Roxxi, likewise chucking the elf a playful wink, "Take care Crowsie!"

"We'll miss you!!!" the two women then chime in unison as they head back to their van.

The walk to the plane is a painful and silent one. The black suited man does nothing but stare at the back of his charge; most likely trying to surmise the true meaning of Roxxi's and Kissy's previous comments. In time, the two men are on board their flight and headed to Perth. An exchange of information occurs mid-flight.
The trip is uneventful and the two street-samurai are sad to see you go. Assume that you are filled in on the players' mission details as per their Prologue located HERE
Any questions feel free to PM me with them. Otherwise I'll try to get you moving along as a group accordingly. Welcome to lunacy yet again :)

"I'll miss you two too," Crow replies with a smile, his comment more genuine than he expected it to be. For all the trouble those two could be, they were fun to have around. But unfortunately, duty called. So, Crow waves goodbye to Roxxi and Kissy and heads over to the plane.

Once they are settled in their seats, but before they start taxiing for takeoff, Crow closes his eyes and concentrates on the Dreamtime. In this particular instance, he's seeking a dream guide to help him in prepare for the mission to come.
Summon a Force 5 Guidance spirit. My plan is to have it Divine for me if I get any tasks. I also figure I can rest on the flight to Perth to get rid of any Stun damage from Drain.

BTW, get used to me trying Divining. It's the big advantage that Guidance spirits have. So I intend to use it!

After reading the forums, I don't think there is a max cap on summoned spirit services, only when purchasing them with BP during CC are their services limited to the maximum of a caster's Summoning rating.

One could say that these guidelines should, in turn, be used to determine the maximum allowed of services alloted. For now however, nothing has exceeded your Summoning rating.

[Summoning Test=Magic+Summoning, 11D=3 Hits]

[Spirit Resistance=Force, 5D=Critical Glitch!]

3-0=3 Net Hits or 3 Services Total

Drain Value = 2 Minimum

[Drain Resistance Check =Charisma+Willpower, 12D=0 Hits!]

2 Stun Damage Sustained!

3 Stun Damage Total so far.

Yes, it is all healed up on the flight to Perth.
Crow breathes a sigh of relief once seated upon the plane headed towards Perth. His mind then slips into the Dreamtime. As it does, the distant sounds of mewing can be heard coming from the seat next to him. Whilst in the Dreamtime, Crow denotes the spectral form of a small aboriginal child approaching him, a little girl dressed in nothing more than a mere rag of a night-slip. The young spirit-girl holds forth a tiny kitten and smiles playfully. Here... the child suggests with her actions, the kitten now cradled within Crow's palms.

Image
Her name is Neranga...

His senses returning to the real world, Crow notices the spectral form of a tiny little Australian Mist (cat) seated next to him on the airplane. The kitten's eyes glisten with ether and it seems that the spirit wants to play with its master.
Cat spirit totems are known for their power of intuition and seeing past secrets. Egyptians believed they could see into the afterlife as well. Who knows what lil Neranga is capable of. Though it sure does look like the little bugger likes you however :)

As he looks down at the ghostly kitten, Crow allows himself to fall back into the Dreamtime again. "Hello little one," he says in the dream talk of that place. "I wonder if you could guide me through what may be a difficult time in my future." He pauses, then adds, "I'm going somewhere dangerous and hoped that you could tell me some of what I might expect to fond there."

He pauses again to collect his thoughts. "Can you tell me, will I face any magical defenses where I am going?" He fixes the description of the mining platform firmly in his mind. "And who will be the greatest threat of those I meet there?" Even a little guidance on either of these questions would be helpful.
When I summon it, give it the Influence power as an optional power (I get one because it's Force 5).

Use two tasks for Divination. The spirit has a pool of 10 dice, so there's a decent chance of a good result. :-)

I'll save the last task in case I need to use some Influence on someone.

First Question
[Arcana+Logic roll, 10D=2 Hits]
You sense no magical opposition from Neranga's vision.

Second Question
[Arcana+Logic roll, 10D=6 Hits]
The greatest threat seems to be a tie between yourselves and Jin-Ho Yong. Each one equally as deadly it would seem.
Neranga fidgets and continues trying to play with its new master. In time the spirit leaps unto Crow's lap and begins to rub up against him lovingly. As she does, Neranga's eye glow eerily and visions of the Dreamtime enter the elven mage's mind.

Crow finds himself standing in total darkness, surrounded by nothing but mere void; the answer to his first question asked. Slowly an image appears before the mage, a distinct outline and silhouette of a sizable stand-up mirror.

Inside the mirror is Crow's own reflection. Appearing beside his image in the mirror is an Asian man that strongly resembles Jin-Ho Yong and then the images of the other runners in Crow's group as well; likewise an answer to the mage's query.

Two of her tasks completed, Neranga continues to rub up against her master and purrs contentedly.

"Thank you, little one," Crow murmurs in dream talk, allowing his astral hand to scratch behind the spirit's ears. "Now I must return to the physical world. But stay close. I may yet need your aid again before the sun sets."
Excellent!

Neranga gobbles up Crow's affection, matching it equally with her own. The young spirit seems to crave attention and shows it greatly, be it either in the Dreamtime or Reality. Crow's flight is periodically interrupted by Neranga's own curiosity getting the better of her. A pair of ghostly yellow eyes suddenly appear from out of nowhere and the echoing sounds of a ghostly mewing are frequently heard aboard the flight into Perth. No matter what the case might be, Neranga's youthfulness and naivety is clearly shown aboard Crow's flight and the mage is almost saddened to see the tiny spirit leave, as a family member might mourn the loss of a long-lived household pet.
Critical Glitch = You now know Neranga's true spirit name, should you try binding her in the future. She's young as far as spirits go but still a Force 5 spirit.
