Book 2 - Act 4: The Treasure of Mancatcher Cove

The shipping lanes of Golarion's seas and oceans are filled with fat merchant vessels laden with trade goods both mundane and exotic, as well as the pirates and freebooters who prey on them. Under the banner of their Hurricane King, these buccaneers sally forth from that archipelago of lawless pirate ports and anchorages known as the Shackles, plundering the shipping of countless countries and trade consortiums, then vanishing back into the maze of islands and reefs they call home. The nations of the Inner Sea would like nothing more than to end the pirate menace once and for all, but the eternal hurricane known as the Eye of Abendego has thus far shielded the Free Captains of the Shackles from the threat of retaliation.

In the Skull & Shackles Adventure Path, the PCs take on the role of pirates, but they must make a name for themselves in piracy, plunder, and disrepute to truly become infamous Free Captains of the Shackles.

Book 2 - Act 4: Lilywhite

Post by Vardaen » Wed Jul 18, 2018 5:48 pm

Maggie, a redheaded pirate lass with a pendant of Besmara the Pirate Goddess around her neck, joins Rod and the others. She elbows him hard at his flirting, "Not only is he married to the Lady of Tidewater Rock, but he's also spoken for from before and after the marriage, namely to me." She tips her tricorn hat, "First Mate Maggie of Besmara's Banshee. My over libido fueled companion is right. We are in need of good crew for both sailing and land adventures. We are on our way to find the lost legendary treasure of Captain Cyrus Wolfe. Interested? Pay is your equal share of the loot and plunder, work is a pirates life on board, with some shore time if you are good at that sort of thing."
You have heard of Tidewater Rock - A very famous island stronghold nearby, control of the Rock is rather a sweet deal for any pirate.

You have heard of Captain Cyrus Wolfe - his treasure, long lost, should cause any pirate jump at the chance to find it.

First Bell, Shove Off!

Post by Vardaen » Mon Jul 23, 2018 2:23 pm

Maggie looks around, "I don't know where the Captain is, doesn't matter. You two are hired. I'm the First Mate, its my call anyhow. Get your gear together, we shove off at first bells tomorrow morning."

With that two new hands are hired, the rest of the day the crew enjoys the comforts of the town, but everyone is eager to be back to sea. The word of the Banshee is spreading, and that's good for everyone, but without new adventures the locals start to grow tired of the same tales.

So the evening passes, drinks, food, wenches, songs and comradery with the new hires is hand.

****

First Bell, the next morning...

Captain Gragol and First Mate Maggie stand on the deck of Besmara's Banshee gazing down the docks, as three crew are racing to get back on board: Daryn, Deadeye Sophie McPhearson, and Eight-Fingered Bob were out late, and are arriving late. Maggie screams, "We are leaving! You three are late! Half rum rations for you for a week!"
Daryn - Swab - male half-elf - A middle-aged elf who had his children and wife leave him years ago, he was frustrated that nothing went his way anymore and he was stuck at his work as bartender. Having heard a thousand tales for many years, he did no longer want to stay and just listen to them. Although he only found a job as a swab on a merchant vessel he was still glad to get out of what he felt like a dead-end job behind. Though he did underestimate what a sailor's life entitled. Unfortunately the company that supported the vessel ran dry over time when the risk of running the Shackles slowly costed them more than they earned. So he was stuck at Senghor and once more made a small earning in a bar. Though there he merely wiped the floor. Indeed when the crew of the Besmara's Banshee came and the officers were looking for recruits, he immediately dropped his broom to replace it with just a half-rusted cutlass, the clothing and his back and a handful of coins he lifted off drunken patrons.

Deadeye Sophie McPhearson - Swab - female elf - With a penchant for throwing daggers and darts, and never missing, Sophie has cleaned out the pockets of many of crew man at games of skill that involve throwing.

Eight-Fingered Bob - Swab - male human - The man had his name from his unfortunate condition, as two fingers are missing from his left hand. That hasn't stopped him from doing much of anything. He's skinny, a bit too skinny, and likes to keep his hair cut real sort so the lice don't have as much to hold onto. He is a pro at Nine Pins which he enjoys (and brings a set with him onto the ship). After seeing your heroics on the beach he signed right up with your crew as a swab.

Xie wakes up at first light as usual, after his morning routine he gathers his belongings into a pack, after packing he grabs his hat and glaive and steps outside into the streets. Whistling a song as he walks by the many opening shops on his way towards the port. When he arrives at the port he sees Maggie standing by a dwarf on the docks as crew members run around following her orders. "Good morrow!" Xie waves at Maggie.

How Flavinia managed to get to the ship in time is a mystery, considering that she was the last to leave the party, as usual. And given her behavior, there were several men lining up to join her in her quarters, keeping the party fun for quite some time longer...all disappointed at the end of the night when she didn't find anyone worth losing even more sleep over. Also as usual. Xie must have seen her flirt with hundreds of men, but never once gone beyond flirting.

Rod she had rather quickly been dismissed as "someone who can't speak for himself", if laced with a hint of a challenge to defy that statement. She made sure to meet just about anyone belonging to the Banshee that cared to show up for the fun.

Though managing to get up early did nothing for hangovers, her lament that not even Cayden seems capable of granting spells against that sort of thing was also one that Xie had heard, multiple times. Or couldn't one of those boring types spending their noses stuffed into their books for years upon years research one? Oh right, those guys didn't know how to party, so they wouldn't know that such a spell had any use at all.

First Bell, Shove Off!

Post by Vardaen » Thu Jul 26, 2018 1:43 pm

Master-at-Arms Davok Seabeard and First Mate Maggie are taking roll call, "Where the hell is Jaundiced Jape?" she asks. Both give a quick ask, and find the half orc is not on board. "Well, we leave without him then. Seems recruitment went well enough last night." They tick off on their sheet four new arrivals, including Xie and Flavinia and a few others (aka Guy's Character if we need it).

Maggie calls up, "Captain! We are ready to shove off!"

Gragol, the stout dwarf standing at the wheel gives a half salute, and calls to shove off, and the ship get's underway at once. By noon you are leagues from Lillywhite and out in the open sea. Toruk, the ship's bright blue Undine Sorcerer, and the ship's Carpenter has made his rounds with the new recruits putting them to work as swabs or riggers depending on their talents. He's paused with Xie, "Word is you are a priest of sorts. Our Chaplain is back on Tidewater Rock, and while First Mate Maggie can look after things in a pinch, we need someone dedicated to the souls of our crew who's not also got other duties. Think you can handle that?"

Xie bows in greetings of Toruk, "indeed i am a priest of Shelyn, i don't foresee any issue over those responsibilities". Xie gives Toruk a smile and mentions, "i can see you are quite busy, is there anything i could assist you with?"

"We are shoving off, you and your friend find hammocks below. And give us a blessing of fair winds as we set out. Otherwise stay out of the way this morning till Maggie sets you to work, swab or rigger? Your choice when not doing the Chaplain duties. Its all hands on deck at this point." The blue skinned man smiles, "Oh and don't mind some of the crew, everyone's a bit odd on this ship, we even have a talking chicken." Without more on that he walks off to deal with other duties.

Infinitely curious Xie raises an eyebrow at the mention of a talking chicken but he moves on looking for Maggie and a place to unload his stuff. Mentally Xie makes a note of look for this chicken and see what the fuzz is about.
