Book 7: Act 1 - A Darkness in the Marshes

It is the year 2946 of the Third Age, and the lands east of the Misty Mountains are astir. From the cloud-shrouded peaks above the High Pass to the spider-infested gloom of the forest of Mirkwood, paths long-deserted are trodden once again. Busy merchants carry their wares to new markets, messengers bring tidings from foreign realms, and kings send forth armed men to extend their influence and the rule of law. Some say that a new age of freedom has begun, a time for adventure and great deeds to reclaim glories lost in long centuries of oppression and decline.

But adventures are not really things that people go out and look for. They are dangerous and rarely end well. While it is true that a handful of valiant individuals set out to make their mark on the world, for others it seems that adventure chooses them, as though it is the path they are fated to tread. They are restless warriors, curious scholars and wanderers, always eager to seek what was lost or explore what was forgotten. Ordinary people call them adventurers, and when they return successful, they call them heroes. But if they fail, no one will even remember their names...

Borir charges headfirst towards the orcs, "Baruk Khazâd! Khazâd ai-mênu!" He shouts as he rushes forward with his axe raised high and posed for a quick strike the at the ugly orcs.
stance: open
attack: nearest orc (if its the leader, thats okay, if other orc that's okay too), if a snaga is in front of the orcs, then attack the snaga, not going to run past a foe, so in short, attack first foe as I run towards the leader

Round 1 Heros, , Glirion, Enemies
Glirion stands a few steps from the door way as the enemy charges forward, but around him out of the door comes his allies. Varuthil first out of the door, bow in hand, fires a shot into the chest of the nearest snaga archer. The elven bow fires perfectly true and pierces its black heart knocking back off its feet.

Around her floods man and dwarf. Gerwald's spear, held like a lance almost misses the tricky snaga tracker, but Gerwald's aim is still true. He slams his spear through its belly lifting it up into the air on the end of the great shaft like some terrible bbq. The screaming of the goblin ends quickly.

On Gerwald's flank is Finn, shield and sword at the ready. Finn moves with a bit more care, that is until he encounters the orc before him, and his sword takes the head from its shoulders in a single strong swipe. The black spray of blood is hot and steaming in the cool mountain night air.

"Baruk Khazad!" the war cry of Borir echos, waking many around your building as his axe cleaves into the skull of the first foe before him. The second of the orcs is felled just like that as the warrior's blade cracks open its skull.

Before Ghor the Despoiler realizes it, both his trackers are dead, and so too are his orc bodyguards. He himself is bleeding barely, even as Glirion holds his spear out....

Glirion watches the orcs almost comically fall like game pieces to his companions, shrugs, and thrusts his spear at the final orc.
I thought I had! I would like to stab the orc with my spear please. Forward stance!

Round 1 Heroes, Enemies
Round 2 Var, Borir, Gerwald, Finn, Glirion, Ghor

One round at a time, let's not get ahead of our selves.
Glirion charges now past the others and at Ghor the Despoiler. His spear barely grazes the massive black uruk, a blow that could have killed a lesser orc. Laugh the orc spits in Glirion's face, "I will kill you now." Ghor considers retreat, but he can see it would be hard, so instead he brings his great two handed scimitar down on Glirion, who slides clear of the blow spending a bit of effort and growing winded some.

That's when Borir and Varithil pounce. The arrow from the elf strikes the orc leader in the chest, lodges in the joints and articulation of the armor, almost piercing through to the enemy's black heart. Borir howls and slices, making the beast steps back with great effort slowing and winding the Despoiler.

Gerwald, Finn and Glirion....

Round 2 Heroes, Enemies
Round 3 Heroes, Enemies
The company focuses on the last foe, you can hear cries and shouts from around the village now, and a few lights wink on.

Gerwald stabs with his great spear slicing the leg of Ghor with the board head causing the great black uruk to buckle and drop to one knee, but through sheer hatered he stands back up spitting blood. Another spear stabs him in the side, this one Glirion's and again he staggers from the blow but knocks the spear away able to press on through the pain. Then Finn shouts out, he howls "For the Lake! For the North!" and the scene of all of you now closing in on Ghor is enough to drive his hatred down and it flees him, and his hope for victory is gone.

Then an arrow whistles through the air and slams into Borir's shield! Another hidden goblin archer appears top one of the nearby rooftops. Ghor chuckles, and sweeps his great two handed scimitar into Glirion's belly. The blade drives deeply, with no armor to protect him the blow is nearly fatal. The elf is knocked back prone onto the ground, weary and bleeding from a sizable belly wound, he is quickly being coated in his own blood.
