The Snows of Summer: Part I - An Early Frost

It has been a century since the immortal witch Baba Yaga last visited the world, and the hour draws nigh for her return. But when she fails to appear in the frozen realm of Irrisen to usher in its newest ruler, pockets of winter begin to grow throughout the Inner Sea region. After 1,400 years of perpetual winter, the icy curse of Irrisen is spreading! What links do these strange blizzards and swaths of wintry landscapes have with Irrisen, and is there any truth to the growing rumors that the Witch Queen Elvanna has taken full control of the realm? Can her plans for the Inner Sea be thwarted, or will the Reign of Winter engulf the world?

Landa breaks off from the group as they begin to head to the town hall. Leading the horses, "I will take care of the horses as well as store our findings until we decide what is to become of it. I will undoubtedly find you at the tavern later on."

So Argentea, led by Eoghan, Kolya and Zym approach Heldren's town hall. Rather grand for a village this size, the town hall boasts a clock tower overlooking the town square. You hear a muffled voice from inside the clock tower, "Councilwoman Teppen! Councilwoman Teppen! They return!" Zym informs you that it is likely Orillus Davigen, Heldren's fix-it guy. He must have spied you while tinkering on the clock. You get but one foot upon the steps and the door in front of you opens with Ionnia Teppen beckoning you, "Come in, do come in." This is a far cry from the first impression she gave you at the Silver Stoat! As you pass through the open door, "Where is young Landa? Has she not returned?"
Number Two: "You are number six."
Number Six: "I am not a number, I am a free man!"
Number Two: "Muh ha ha ha ha!"

Zym smiles at the sight of Lady Teppen. "Good day, Councilwoman. You look quite happy to see our safe return."

The man then looks behind him and around the group for Landa and realizes that she left them when they return to town. "She was here a moment ago. I think she headed off somewhere when we returned to town."

Eoghan waves, "Landa is dealing with the horses and other matters. Worry not we are all in once piece, for the most part. May I introduce Lady Argentea." He motions at the woman and steps out of the way, "Lady Argentea this is Councilwoman Ionnia Teppen the woman responsible for sending us to your rescue.

He takes himself a seat, having Grip wait on the porch, "We have much to talk about."

Ionnia exhales a sigh of relief upon the news that Landa did in fact make the return journey. The councilwoman extends a hand of greeting to Lady Argentea, "Welcome to Heldren. If not for the iron will of one of your guard, Yuln, I would never have know to gather a search party."

Lady Argentea is profuse in her thanks then adds, "I would speak to him after our meeting."

Ionnia nods, "Of course." She gestures those who are not already seated to do so, "Please, sit down. Eoghan is right, there is much to discuss." About to continue, the councilwomen loses her train of thought when she eyes the sprite. "What...what is that?"

Vrixx wrinkles his nose at the comment, "That! Oh, you must mean the filthy Ulfen next to me."

Eoghan shakes the cage, "Be polite Vrixx, this is a Councilwoman you are speaking too." He pokes the imp a few times, "This is Vrixx, one of the Imps in the service of those that caused all this trouble. He and I are becoming best of friends, aren't we Vrixx?" He then puts the cage far too close to the fire in the room and leaves the Imp there to sweat -- literally.

"We were unable to run down the person behind the change in weather," Kolya adds. "But we were able to dispatch one of her lieutenants." He uses the female pronoun, mostly convinced that it was a female witch who was responsible.

Vrixx hovers to avoid being burned by the metal cage, "Do we have to do this every time I speak?"

Ionnia raises a brow in regards to the interesting relationship between Eoghan and Vrixx. Kolya quickly brings them back to the matter at hand. "I suppose..."

Lady Argentea interjects, "Her, him, I fear the bandits and fey minions that ambushed us along the road are just a pawns in a much larger game. Rohkar is, was able enough, but not in regards to creating a winter where one was not welcome. During my entrapment, I happened to be privy to several muffled details. Mostly the names of two, Izoze who they mentioned was ever watchful and Teb Knotten, their leader." Looking around the table at the others, "It is hard to put any of this into context."

Eoghan smiles, "Oh when you are rude Vrixx. Now if you start behaving I can give you a treat, and pet you behind the ears." The Ulfen knows well how to train dogs, and he's starting to apply those same principles to the Imp.

The Ulfen listens to the Lady and tries to recall any of those names, "I may be able to help some with that. I came here through the malign magic of a White Witch of the North, her power broken on my blade sent me here. Somehow this must be related, what we have here is a Witch at work. What the purpose if of the Witch, beyond evil, we don't know. We should spend a day in down, re-equip and then head back out."

Zym stands and listens to the conversation. The Varisian is unable to add further details at the moment, so he just listens to the Lady and Councilwoman speak.

Seeing that their task is now done, he waits to see what type of rewards the town or Lady might offer the group. He had planned on traveling north, so maybe he might join the next caravan escorting Lady Argentea.

Eoghan looks at Zym, "Oh no you don't! I know that look, you aren't done yet. We haven't finished this, we are going after the source of this Winter, you me, Landa, and even Kolya. When we've found the source and killed the Witch behind it then you can get that look of wanderlust and move on if you want, but not before then. You hear me Zym?"
