Re: Re-Establishing vWord or Equinox
Aside from being class based, it has a magic system that doesn't turn into massive rocket tag spellcaster>>>>>non-spell caster mess.
Feats for martial characters are massive improvements plus generally providing some cool new option. And all classes gets special stuff.
Also world building is a toolbox, so if GM doesn't want magic he can say that his world doesn't have magic. And then there won't be any mages.

Re: Re-Establishing vWord or Equinox
Might be nice if someone wanted to use it with the setting. Unless there's major differences, it doesn't look like Pathfinder, D&D 3.5, etc, would work particularly well without a overhaul.

Re: Re-Establishing vWord or Equinox
And just as an FYI, if I run a game out of this setting, and that's my end goal, I'll be using Savage Worlds, Modified Chronicle (ASOIAF), or GURPS 4E.

ASOIAF is the only system of those I know in and out.
Savage worlds I don't know at all.

It is super easy. But thats pretty far off, more than likely, so we will see.

zorb, to kinda go sideways a bit.. here was what i was thinking for asoiaf magcic. basically replace status with a magic attribute. it would be for magic defense and offense. so you could raise it and still not be able to cast anything. you would need a benefit to cast anything, specialties would do various things.

That's a clever way to handle things.

Re: Re-Establishing vWord or Equinox
I would not discount status so readily, though it could be renamed and re-purposed, call it authority, maybe.
Depending on what sort of magic you want, you could easily use knowledge as the key skill. Appropriate if magic is something that is a time consuming affair that requires recipes.

Re: Re-Establishing vWord or Equinox
Status in ASOIAF is fine, but I'm speaking from a non-ASOIAF perspective. I wouldn't replace status in ASOIAF for magic.

I think you misunderstand me here.
Status matters for intrigue, so you cannot simply take that ability away, even if you transplant the ruleset into a different kind of setting.
