That's a good point. I'd have to look at that, but if you added a whole new stat, you'd have to redo all of character creation, etc.

Well, who's to say you can't key magic off knowledge or will?

It could. I think Greensight goes off Will, which is about as magic as you get in ASOIAF. Just seems like it would make Will very overpowered.

Well, consider a system where knowledge is rolled to perform a ritual correctly, and will is used to defend against negative side effects.

I was thinking binding/ pacts with spirits could be one type of magic. There's no reason a low fantasy setting can't have multiple forms of magic, just as long as they all produce relatively subtle and/or weak magic.
