Re: Chapter 1: A New World
"A private matter?" the man chuckles, "Go over there and sit down." He waves toward a bench nearby. The man stands up and immediately walks back to a door, knocks on it, and a few seconds later walks inside. Rax and Cass are left waiting.

Used to a life of living at others whims Rax shrugs and takes a seat. "We must wait. Like standing in the pens with the crowd roaring. You know whats coming and it might be your last day in the sand but you wait. Patience comes to you with the certainty of the sun rising over the Athas sand."

It actually does not take long for the receptionist to return and waves both forward. "You are lucky this day, Captain Aranchor will see you."
Both are lead toward the office where the man himself waits.

Cass asks Rax while standing up, "Were you a gladiador, Rax?"

Rax nods his head at Cass. "I spent most of my life spilling blood on the sand. A prized slave until recently. That did not take long." Following the receptionist to the Captains office the Mul is silent.

Re: Chapter 1: A New World
The pair speak as they are lead into the captain's office.
The offices of the Captain of the Crimson Guard are of a simple nature. A large desk rests imposingly against the back wall. Its top is made from a fine specimen of the local mountain granite, its base from the local old growth oak trees native to the countryside of Carnac. At the edge of the desk is a small plaque, bearing the name "Captain Aranchor". At the front of the room is a pair of wooden chairs, and behind the desk is a large chair upholstered in a fine supple leather. These offices have obviously been created for functionality.
There are several maps on the walls, and several pictures of known criminals of the state with posted rewards. Several pieces of parchment are strewn across the walls as well detailing duty rosters, promotions, recognitions, and every manner of trivial business that the Captain of the Guard must deal with daily.
Seated behind the desk is a comely man with hawkish features. He has pale grey eyes and black hair. The man might be forty years of age, but he has a strange look about him. He seems to command attention with an ease of authority that is not seen among most men. He simply stares up at Rax and Cass, an inquisitive look that says 'speak'.

Rax takes in the office, the Captain is clearly an important man. "My name is Rax, he is Cass. We are here to help with your Daerith problem. I believe you know who sent us." Rax stands there looking the man in the eyes confident in the way only a man that has spent a lifetime fighting for every day can be.

"Likely," Aranchor says, nodding to the receptionist to close the door behind him. He waves to the chairs in front of his desk. "And what task did he assign you? To help me end this pitiful uprising?" The man gives a low chuckle. "I hardly need help in keeping order here in Carnac."
