Chapter 1: A New World

Rax's eyes slowly open. His back is tender, but not burning like it was before. The Mul idly wonders how long he has been asleep, but assumes that it has been days if not weeks. He hears voices that are unfamiliar to him, which is not surprising in the medicae ward of the ludus. However, after a few moments, he realizes that not only were the voices strange, but the language was completely foreign. It was not uncommon to hear some sort of language he might not know, but to not even recognize the language at all was beyond unusual. The slave pits were a multi-racial place, and he had heard at least a half dozen. Rax did not roll off his stomach as he heeded the slave herbalists warnings. But looking around as he could, confusion instantly flashed through his mind. He was not in the slave ward. He was not even inside. He was ... he did not know.

This was unlike anything Rax had seen before. The ground was black, as if burnt by a hundred fires. There were stone things about, he was not sure what they were. They had a trunk, with branches and a hundred small things hanging off them. It was the strangest stone sculpture he had ever seen. He could not understand it's purpose. Rolling to his side, he immediately realizes he is shivering. It is night time, but there is no heat. Goosebumps plagued his naked flesh as he was only wearing a loincloth, but as his eyes moved about he say few things he knew were his own. The freezing temperatures did not make any sense whatsoever, neither did the sweat that began dripping off his brow. It was like they were drenched with the sweetest of water. He felt sick.

Next to his gear he spotted two tall and lean figures. At first, Rax thought they were elves, but they were strange. These creatures were dressed in black leather, from head to toe, and their skin was a porcelain grey that almost reflected when the night's moonlight shimmered in the sky. Their hair was a stark white, their pupils were amber, and they each carried what appeared to be a sword in their scabbards. One of them says something, and as the Mul turns the other direction, he spots a half dozen equally strange creatures hop toward him. They were halflings, he thought, but ugly, green, with pointed ears and sharp teeth. Their eyes were red, he thought, and they carried crude instruments of death, hooks, blades, axes ...

By now, both these strange green-halflings and the white-faced aliens had noticed his awakening.
Haha. This thread is currently for Rax, the first to go World jumping! Congrats!

I'm dead...that kank swallower killed me finally, maybe had the herbalist poison me. I don't know. This is a strange hell. Why is it so cold...I guess it really is frozen. Rax shivers and notices his gear and the pain in his back. He wonders if he is dead why does it hurt? Feeling naked and exposed the Mul slides forward and grabs his flail. Trying to stand up he looks at the two tall and lean figures that seem to be in charge. "Who are you? Am I dead? Are you Daemons?! I am Rax Battleborn! I have sent you many a soul, I am predator not prey!" The superstitious gladiator makes it known he will not willingly be a devils play thing but makes no aggressive moves.

Standing there he looks around a bit more at the ugly green halflings. He wonders if these are as vicious as the ones near Tyr. "You there halfling, what tribe are you? Be you friendly?" The mul quickly checks the rest of hi body for injuries wanting to strap that breastplate on.
I figure being primitive and uneducated really with the wounds he took death would be his first thought. Rolling with it until he learns otherwise.

There are no other injuries on Rax's body other than the lash marks on his back. The thin pieces of cloth still stick to the wounds on his back. They feel wet and fresh from what Rax can tell. As Rax stands up and goes for his flail, the green-halflings rush him, getting in between the Mul and his weapon. The other two demons look at him expectantly. They say something in a language he cannot understand.

Rax points a meaty finger at himself and says "Rax." "I wonder what language that is " Rax mutters absently. He doesn't want to get into a fight with so many opponents. He tries to remain calm. Raising one hand in the air showing his palm trying to be non threatening. He looks from the 2 demons to the smaller green things in front of him.
Really could a friend with some people skills!

One of the demons says something, but if it was a name, Rax would never be able to repeat it. The small green creatures back off, allowing Rax to take up his gear if he so wishes it. The thing says nothing, waiting and watching for what Rax will do.

Rax realizes he might not be in danger they do not seem overly aggressive. He takes time to buckle his breastplate on. Straps his obsidian sword to his belt and shield to his back. Finally picking up his flail holding the wooden handle in his hand the chain linking it to the heavy ball on the floor a moment looking around then picking it up and strapping it to his body. Rax moves towards the stone things rubbing his hand along one wondering what it is. Looking at it a moment he moves his head around turning his body trying to get a better look around. Then he moves towards the "demons" trying not to be threatening though he is large and imposing. He looks at what you are doing.

The ground is rough, like rock, but also ashy, as if burned. The same demon waves for Rax to follow them. The first and second begin to move away from this location. As Rax moves along with them momentarily, he cannot really see much. There's a heavy black fog that sits over nearly everything.

"What happened here?" Rax says but then realizes likely no one will understand him. "How do you see in this shit?" The Mul tries his best to stay close to the demon knowing he could easily be lost in a place like this. "Where are we going?" Rax stays aslert a life in combat has made him ready for anything.

Rax keeps asking questions but he gets no answers. The small green-things and demon-things lead Rax down a rocky slope. They do not go very far when almost out of nowhere appears a black tower of black, like everything else here. One of the demons points toward the tower and sets feet in motion toward it.

Rax continues walking really unsure where he is and not knowing the language he is troubled by how he got here. He wonders if that scum sold him but they are not treating him like a slave. So he continues walking and trying to learn his surroundings which is hard in this area. Thankfully his eyes see well in darkness or he would be well and truly lost. This large black tower rises up seemingly out of nowhere and he is suitably impressed. He has not see the like before. "Does a sorcerer king live here? What city state is this?" Rax keeps asking questions before he realizes he will not get answers. The mul flexes his fingers as he walks but excited to learn more.
