Re: The Unknown Worlds
If we do ASOIAF, I'm going to really have to look at magic.
I've considered doing this before. I'd basically swap out the Status ability and make it Magic. But as far as spells, etc, not sure.

Re: The Unknown Worlds
I don't really need much in the way of magic, so that doesn't bother me much. I took a very brief look at the ASOIF system and it looks fine. I haven't been able to find anything on Savage Tides except for the D&D adventure path that Trogdor is running. Is it a subset of Savage Worlds or something?

Re: The Unknown Worlds
Did I say Savage Tides? Sorry, Savage Worlds is what I meant.

Re: The Unknown Worlds
So, basically for ASOIAF what I would do is change Status to Magic.
You would have a Mana Pool. Magic + Will + Cunning.
Each time you use magic it would pull from your Mana Pool.
Magic will have a couple specialties. Including; Combat, Life, and a few others, I'm thinking about it. Combat would be anything that attacks. Life is healing. Ideas for others?
In order to cast a magic type, you have to have the correct benefit.
Combat Caster
Life Caster
etc.
I could add extra benefits to make you better casters, +1 to your casting, etc.
For combat, for instance, you'd have to cast the spell first. You'd roll your Bonus Die (Combat Caster) + Test Dice (Magic)
Cass has 4 Magic and 2 Combat specialty. He rolls 6 dice (d6) and keeps 4. The difficulty of the roll depends on how powerful the spell. The damage on the spell is based on your Will ability.
Your WILL is DC 6, WILL+1 is DC 9, WILL+2 is DC 12, etc.
You can use a ranged ability to throw the spell, or you can use touch.
Ranged will use Marksmanship (With a Magic specialty), Fighting is for touch (With a Magic Specialty). This is to just to hit the guy and do damage.
Other none combat will work differently, as you might just have one affect, that will go against their passive WILL score. These are just my original thoughts, but I think it will work pretty well with some fleshing out.

Re: The Unknown Worlds
That looks promising. Are you leaning more towards ASOIAF then?

Re: The Unknown Worlds
Probably - I know the system really well, so it would be easy for me. I'd be the first time I've used/run Savage Worlds. If everyone is okay, I'll proceed with the Chronicle/ASOIAF system.

Re: The Unknown Worlds
Sounds good. Chael'Ha will probably become more rangery than spellcastery.

Re: The Unknown Worlds
So let's take a break from the game for a couple weeks while I work on this. I have you all together, and have an idea of how to give us a fresh start.

Re: The Unknown Worlds
I hope this break is enough for me to read the rulebook (couldn't find a PDF yet) and port my character to this system. He's more spellcastery, though.
