Chatter: Dwarves
This thread is for Dwarves. Did you know that the Longbeards, those dwarves of Durin along with the dwarves of Nogrod and Belegost are only three of the seven families of dwarves. The other four are from our Lost East region!

The Seven Fathers awoke in their places in pairs with their wives, though Durin I had awoken alone. The seven different groups of Dwarf-folk originated in the locations where the Seven Fathers of the Dwarves first awoke.
The seven clans of the Dwarves were:
Longbeards, Durin's Folk, originally from Gundabad.
Firebeards and Broadbeams, originally from Nogrod and Belegost.
Ironfists and Stiffbeards, originated in the Orocarni in the far East.
Blacklocks and Stonefoots, originated in the Orocarni.

There was also an eighth group of Dwarves that was not a separate member from these seven kindreds, but composed of exiles from each: the Petty-dwarves, who were hunted like animals to the point of extinction by the Elves in the First Age.
We can develop the various houses of dwarves, their strongholds and history and how they come to play into things. Perhaps one house falls to darkness, another is destroyed but others remain part of the Free Folk fighting the good fight, that sort of thing. There are plenty of mountains for them to migrate to an the like.

Re: Chatter: Dwarves
So if we figure out the elves first, then we need to pick the dwarves next. Our four fathers of the dwarves should be located up the Orocarni, but we need some disaster to force one family out of the mountains and then into the hills around the Sea of Rhun, or perhaps one simply started there. Another disaster in the far north perhaps another dragon or similar to while one out or turn them into Petty-dwarves wandering Rhun or falling under the sway of Sauron.
We have the possibility of a few dwarf rings being handed around here too. 7 for the Dwarf Lords... that's one per dwarf house, and we have 4 houses here.

The map has been updated to move the Stiffbeards to the north.
