A Drive to the Woods

Everyone has debated for decades over what form the coming apocalypse would take; many think plague, some thing war, some thing famine, others a frightening combination of all the above. What were your predictions? How well did you prepare for the eventuality which came to claim the human race?

In this adventure characters are survivors of the apocalypse, the last bastian of humanity that holds out against the oncoming hard and struggle to delay the inevitable.

We are using the All Flesh Must be Eaten game system for the adventure and players who are unfamiliar with the system will be helped along so that everyone can enjoy the 'fun'

As a note, please don't get too attached to any one character you choose to make, s/he may not make it. Heck, while were at it, go ahead and make a backup character just in case.

There is a strange calm over the entire scene as no cop sirens are coming to the sound of gunfire, no screams from neighbors, and even the street noise common on most neighborhoods is absent. Off in the distance a dog barks over the sound of the commotion but otherwise everything seems still and quiet.

Caleb pulls his axe out of the dead girl. Wiping his blade, he says "Fill the gas tank. I have some containers." He knows everyone despises him. "I have food. We need to keep warm."

The pumps still work and the credit card machines accept payment. One advantage to being early in the apocalypse is that many of the modern comforts will continue to function for some time. Filling the gas tanks is not an issue and then there is a question of if anyone wants to go inside the gas station to grab whatever may be inside.

A dog has come around the corner of one of the houses and is standing there watching the group as they do what they are doing.

Frank's mouth gapes open for the entire combat. Even after it is over, the man's jaw remains lax and somewhat ajar. Now clearly relieved to see the others pumping gas, the frazzled cop promptly draws his aim over towards the dog peeking out from around the corner. "What's our next move?" inquires Frank with a hushed tone, his vision straining to see whether or not the canine shows signs of being infected.

Relieved of her driving duty, Tara decides to rummage through the gas station for batteries. "Anyone want to assist me? I am figuring the more supplies the better." Just then a dog appears from around a corner. Being careful, she draws her pistol but doesn't aim it yet. Tara then reaches her free hand out, hoping the dog is just lost and not infected.

"Clear out everything we can," Rust says, "Food, gas, whatever." He looks around, "Are there any more gas containers inside? We should pump every last drop we can haul."

The group watches the dog for a moment, unsure of if it will do anything aggressive against them as it seems all the people have chosen to do as of late, but as the minutes tick by nothing happens and it just continues to watch it seems the dog is just a dog and is not interested in doing anything but watching for the moment.

Stepping into the convenience store the place is in a state with shelves knocked over and packages rummaged around. There are two other bodies in here but neither of them seem to be moving so for the moment everything remains quiet.

There are three 5 gallon gas cans for sale, if anyone wants to actually buy anything, otherwise they are up for grabs, along with most of the other basic essentials found in your common Circle J.

Rust immediately goes for the gas cans, collecting as many as he can and walking back out to the pumps. He begins filling them up with gas until there are no cans left.

"We will need gas, no doubt," he says to anyone listening to him. "Someone else grab everything else."

Caleb helps in cleaning out the store. He takes everything that will fill up his truck, including perishables which he figures can always be dumped out later if they spoil before consumed.

The group makes quick work of cleaning out the small shoppet from those things they feel are the most essential and its as everyone is preparing to leave that the sound of a cell phone breaks through the silence. Or rather the sound of every cell phone, each ringing at the same time.
