"Indeed, you should not leave your squire alone with my companion for too long," Gavin says and begins to head for where they left the young man and the bard. Recalling a night not too long ago he continues with an amused smirk. "Otherwise we find them both trying to do something that would reflect badly. On ourselves of course."

Harry's note was very purposely written. It hints at certain things, but makes sure they can only be deduced through 'reading between the lines'. Harry worries that he would dishonor himself to admit so many of the horrors openly. This was not Essos after all.
"My lord, I thank you and welcome it. I had hoped you would make such and offer, and I accept. Although I am not as agile or skilled as I used to be. My days with a lance and sword ended when I returned home." Harry pauses, turns his head, and coughs a few times. When finished, he looks to Ser Domeric, "Ser, it is well to make your acquaintence." Harry doesn't even bother telling Lord Alester he didn't need his help, it would be a lie and Harry was tired of acting strong when he was clearly weak. "My father was killed by a hedge knight I have been accompanying. Ser Braden is a good man and has helped me escape my brother's clutches. I would ask for protection for him as well, and perhaps to bring him into your employ if at all possible. If it were not for he, I would not be standing here today."

"I will met your Ser Braden, and decide for myself. The mere amount of hedge knights seeking employ on this wrenched tourneys is unbearable. If he proves himself as a good man and true, he will have a place in Runestone. As for you, you'll be riding destriers and breaking lancis in no time! Worry not!" Alester laughs.
"Come now, let us go to the feast. They are likely expecting me."

"Aye. Let''s look Harry up among the tents. " says the hedge knight, and stands up.

Re: Prelude: Seeking passage
It is hard to tell, but Harry cannot help but feel that Domeric's words are spoken as if the knight was hoping to see some manner of combat in his newly acquired assignment.
Ser Domeric then listens to Lord Alester's continued speech and rises shortly after his liege does and escorts Harry to the nearby tents, a hardened look upon his face.

Re: Prelude: Seeking passage
"My lord, Ser Braden saved my life. More than once, I will add, with no thought of his own safety. Certainly, what he did was worse for him than if he had not. I shall not stay in Runestone as your squire if he is not given compensation. I am sorry, I would rather die in the mud than betray him." Harry takes a deep breath, resolute in his stance, but also scared that Lord Alester might send him away.

Ser Domeric has not even begun to leave Lord Alester's tent before he has already found himself in admiration of the young squire's courage. Maybe this scrawny whelp has more to offer... the hedge knight ponders as he continues to exit his lord's tent. Maybe indeed...

Re: Prelude: Seeking passage
"As I said, let me meet the man first. There always is room for good knights in my household, but I cannot guarantee to receive him before meeting him. Also, I had some work in plan that his kind should be able to do" Alester was a traditional man, and as such did not think highly of various hedge knights.
He grunted and stood up, looking fierce in his bronze armor.
"Lead me to him." he told Harry.

Harry decided not to press the issue. If Alestar said no, well, Harry would leave. He hoped it didn't come to that. "Very well. Let us see if we can find him. We had separated before I came here." The squire turns and heads for the exit, only giving the other knight a quick look as he does so.

Re: Prelude: Seeking passage
Having discreetly filtered away from the squire for a long while, Beren wanders the tourney grounds with an impish grin and a pouch somewhat empty of coin... keeping an eye on men young and old gathered to speak of the best candidates; on the look out for these men so he can find the gambling folks of this fine town and set down his mark.

Re: Prelude: Seeking passage
Braden and Gavin are at the campsite, right where you left them. Seeing Harry come with another knight and a Lord clad in bronze armor and with escort that comprised of several guards confuses Ser Braden.
"Harry, you're back! And, uhm, greetings m'lords. I am Ser Braden" he says and bows to Alester.
Alester responds
"Greetings. I am Alester Royce, and I heard good things of you from young Harry here. You will dine at my table during the feast Ser Braden." he says, his voice radiating authority.
"You companion as well." he looks at Gavin. "Let us go."
Beren can spot his new-found hunter friend and Harry and Braden talk to a rich looking man surrounded by guards from the distance. Will he follow, or stay?
