Book 1 - The Longest Night

More than a thousand years ago, the land that is now called the Iron Kingdoms was western Immoren, a mire of warring human city-states. Strong leaders would come and go, but in the chaotic realm then known as the “Thousand Cities” no one could carve out a kingdom for long. Then came the Orgoth, an evil imperial race from beyond the sea that would change the face of western Immoren forever. The way was cleared for the Iron Kingdoms to arise.

Book 1 - Act 1: Investigating the Grave Robberies

Will takes the group back into the city, this time heading to the City Council where Magistrate Ulfass Borloch has an office. The trip takes thirty five minutes of walking. The magistrate is indeed there, but his two assistants are over him showing papers with different symbols and a lot of texts. He reads a little and instructs one of them, then he turns to the other one and does the same while the other comes back with other documents for him. He seems very busy.

Denemere has had some time to consider it, and has come to the conclusion that Father Dumas likely has no idea of what is really going on, nevertheless, he needs to know the truth of the matter. Starting with the Magistrate is a good move, and once there is snaps out of his withdrawal.

As the group stands watching him be busy he clears his throat a few times to make it clear they are standing around waiting for him -- politely.

The magistrate raises to fingers to his assistants and they immediately stop. "Yes?", he asks.

Denemere smiles, "Magistrate Borloch I presume? I am Father Denemere of Marrow. If you have a few moments our small task force has a few questions for you about some recent, and not to recent events. I promise nothing that should take up much time I know how busy a man like you must be."

"You have two minutes. Make'em count. Go!" The assistants holding piles of paper give you a disappointed expression.

Dale stands by and lets Denemere do the talking. A figure like him is more likely to hold more weights behind his words.

Denemere doesn't waste a moment. "We have been investigating the recent grave robbings and have pieced together that all the corpses being dug up were the juror members in a decade old witch trial, of which you were the primary magistrate on the case. We need more information on these witches, their location, crime, and names so we can hunt them down and stop their evil plans." He blinks, "That's far less than two minutes sir."

The magistrate stares at Denemere for a couple seconds, maybe absorbing all the information. "Leave us." He says to his assistants who immediately exit. "All the dead jurors have been dug up? Are you sure about this? Yes, I found the Coven ten years ago and took them to a fair trial. They were found guilty and were executed. Do you think they are back from the dead? They were women who lived in and around the city. They sacrificed children and animals in terrible rituals. Their black magic were perilous to us good citizens of Corvis."

"From what I could tell from our investigation so far", Dale chimes in, "the dead remains of the jurors are being resurrected using necromancy magic. When we heard about the witches and the trial, we figured the grave robbing's were connected somehow. We still don't know what they plan to do with the bodies once resurrected, however."
