Book 1 - Act 2: The Witches' Tomb

More than a thousand years ago, the land that is now called the Iron Kingdoms was western Immoren, a mire of warring human city-states. Strong leaders would come and go, but in the chaotic realm then known as the “Thousand Cities” no one could carve out a kingdom for long. Then came the Orgoth, an evil imperial race from beyond the sea that would change the face of western Immoren forever. The way was cleared for the Iron Kingdoms to arise.

Book 1 - Act 2: The Witches' Tomb

Post by Scout89 » Thu Aug 04, 2016 4:51 pm

Boruk steps forward, "The girl is able to raise undead. As I understand it, she made a ritual that probably brought the four witches back to life. Whatever she is planning to do with those women can't be good. If they are like most undead, mindless, we only have to deal with the kid. But if she somehow restored their souls, who knows what would be their intent. Right now she needs somewhere to hide and those books we found give us the possible location she might have chosen as her hideout. Show them the book, father Denemere. A page is marked, the description of a crypt under this very church. She is probably hiding the undead there."

Father Dumas interjects, "The crypts under Corvis are very dangerous, but with an undead escort she can move around unseen. Please, let me see that book, father Denemere."

As the priest extends his hand to Denemere, Boruk continues, "Unfortunately I have to leave you for now. I have matters to attend and did all I could to help you. We must part now."

Father Dumas turns around and touches the ogrun's arm. "I understand, friend. I thank you for all the help you gave us. Just wait for a few minutes, please. As soon as we finish talking I'll get your well-earned reward." The ogrun replies, "No reward is needed..." But father Dumas interrupts him, "I insist! Please!" And the ogrun nods afirmatively and waits.

I totally forgot about the book!
Denemere looks at Boruk and narrows his eyes some, he wanted more time to study the book and to rest before revealing this to Dumas, he still doesn't trust the man after all the lies he's told the company. "Here. Take a look but the book remains with me." He hands it over to let them glance at it.

Then he turns to Boruk, "Leaving us? That is a boon to our enemies if you are to abandoned this quest."

"Fair you well, Boruk. I barely had a chance to meet you but your strength arms and valor shall be missed." Koluk says as he grasps forearms with Boruk. "Fate has a strange sense of humor and perhaps we shall met in his world again." He says formally as he bows.

After receiving the book from Denemere, Father Dumas starts browsing its pages. Without looking up, he says, "This...this book is from my personal library. See here?" He shows a sign made in ink on the soft cover. "I made this." He then turn the pages until he finds the one possibly marked by his niece. "I know this entrance. I've been there a few times. Do you think she might be hiding there?"

Denemere sighs, "Could be, its the only thing we have to go on. It will have to wait however. I'm exhausted, tired, hungry, hurt, and my boots are still full of marsh muck."
Feel free to NPC me, he will be agreeable to whatever the other PCs decide and go along with things, but we should rest up I think.

"I understand. It's been a very busy day for you. You made more progress in a day than the guard has made in weeks." At this Father Dumas looks at the guard captain who avoids eye contact. "Please, rest and eat. You can investigate further in the morning. I'll keep an eye out for my niece, though. She might return, but who can be sure? She knows you are investigating and is probably not coming back, but one can dream, right?" His expression shows a lot of disappointment.

"A good meal would be fantastic." Dale says without even raising his head from his work. He then pauses and looks up. "Do you know somewhere around here where I could purchase ammunition? While I can make my own ammunition, I just don't have the time or the resources right now."

"If she marked it, it is a good possibility. Of course, it could just as easily be a red herring or a trap." Koluk says with a shake of his head. He holds his tongue for a few moments but when Dale comments, he replies with a small, dark laugh.
"Yes, rest and a warm meal would be greatly welcomed. It feels like we had been down there for days, trudging through the sludge and evil."

The guard captain replies Dale's question: "It depends on the quality of the ammunition you want to buy. In the Quad you can find mundane ammo pretty easely. But if you want top quality, Bodak's Blades is what you're looking for. You'll find it in the Merchant's 'bourg, north of the Quad."
Father Dumas gives the book back to Denemere, "I know dinner is being prepared. Rest and fill your bellies." He closes his eyes and recites a prayer to Morrow emmiting a bright light. The wounds made by the creatures the group fought in the swamp are fully healled now.

"Perfect. Thank you." Dale pats the blunderbuss in front of him. "This thing should be good to go. Just need the pellets now." He then proceeds to pack up his gunsmithing kit.

"So this entrance in the book. Could you explain a bit more about it? If that is all we have to go on, then it is likely to be our next destination. I like to know what I am getting into beforehand."
Dale would like to purchase 5 handfuls of pellets (5gp paizo price) (I don't see him using the blunderbuss all too often. More like a combat opener before he switches to his pistol). If anything, I doubt it would take him long to make 5 handfuls of pellets out of mundane scrap metal that may be laying about.
