Chapter 1: Where the Fallen Jarls Sleep

Yggdrasill, the role-playing game, allows you to play through exciting adventures in a detailed and fascinating setting, and to become a hero in legendary Scandia, the land of the “three kingdoms” of Denmark, Norway, and Svithjod (modern-day Sweden). Intrigues, combats, quests, magic, and mythical creatures await you!

In Her Dark Majesty you will become part of a powerful group of unsung heroes who are sent to rid the world of a powerful evil that has once more reared its ugly head. Through the course of your adventures you will partake in an epic tale that is most assuredly design to mimic the classic prose of the Poetic Edda and Beowulf itself.

You can be a mercenary or hirdman, berserker or noble, soothsayer or sorcerer, Fate will guide you along the frozen shores of the fjords, cross deep seas on perilous expeditions and into monster-haunted forests. The skalds will sing of your exploits for centuries to come!

Ulfr finds all the attention and cheering embarrassing. As much as possible, he tries to fade to the back of the group, where he will attract the least attention. He finds himself looking forward to being back on the road, away from all these people who falsely think him a hero. He hopes to become one to restore his honor, but right now he thinks himself anything but a hero.
Yes, I'm having fun.

Eyvindr mounts his horse and mutters under his breath, "Lets get going. If we stay for too many more speeches, the evil will come upon us here!"
I'm having fun too!

Throgrod can sympathize with his son, but his years spent in the service of kings has taught him somewhat of the value of fanfare and ceremony. "Patience son. We will face danger soon enough. I am not overly fond of all the ceremony, but we are giving these people hope and that is something they have great need of. Pray to Tyr that we may bring an end to this darkness and see their hope fulfilled."

With a frown Skulmdall looks at his horse, thinking that anyone with a piece of sharp metal or wood could just fell the beast and then he would fall as well. Still, he does climb a to, a bit awkwardly at least, and is ready to depart.
Me as well, though occassionally I am not sure what to write...

Sylvi was a princess and thought she knew how to inspire and lead if necessary. She had beaten men in combat, many men, including her elder half-brother. But these people did not know her. Shield maidens commanded respect, aye, but how could she be boasted ahead of the men and woman around her. It could only be done through deeds, she knew, and so there was no reason for any grandstanding. As Sylvi climbed into the saddle of her horse, she gave a slight wave to the crowd before turning the mount alongside Skulmdall and giving him a nod.

And so, with the cries of the jarl's people fading off into the distance behind them, our group of unsung heroes slowly trods their way out of Lord Yngvar's fortress (Kerava) and into the wilds of the Lands of Song. A resounding *THUMP* is heard coming shortly after the ominous creaking sound of wooden timbers as the jarl's guardsmen carefully shut and re-secure the large gate behind the departing band of heroes. A cold wind from the nearby shores of the mighty fjord Trónd blows across the group as they make their way out into the wilderness. The midday sun hangs heavily and before long carries with it only silence and a dull warmth.

The next several hours are then spent in travel...
Alright then, this portion of the thread is done for now. We shall now move on to the Travel portion of the game and the encounters faced during this time.

THE NEW THREAD STARTS HERE
