Chapter 1a: The Journey to the Valley

Yggdrasill, the role-playing game, allows you to play through exciting adventures in a detailed and fascinating setting, and to become a hero in legendary Scandia, the land of the “three kingdoms” of Denmark, Norway, and Svithjod (modern-day Sweden). Intrigues, combats, quests, magic, and mythical creatures await you!

In Her Dark Majesty you will become part of a powerful group of unsung heroes who are sent to rid the world of a powerful evil that has once more reared its ugly head. Through the course of your adventures you will partake in an epic tale that is most assuredly design to mimic the classic prose of the Poetic Edda and Beowulf itself.

You can be a mercenary or hirdman, berserker or noble, soothsayer or sorcerer, Fate will guide you along the frozen shores of the fjords, cross deep seas on perilous expeditions and into monster-haunted forests. The skalds will sing of your exploits for centuries to come!

Sylvi curses, calling out in anger with a simple roar, the shield maiden spots the man coming behind the wolf but only nicking it. She plans to do better. With a vicious downward stab, she yells out, "BY THOR!" The spear looks to embed itself into the wolf's hide, hopefully felling it permanently.
By Thor's Arm! (-3)
-3 (Secondary 1)
Use FUROR +1d vs. 4

Sylvi relinquishes the grip upon her javelin in hand upon freeing herself from the clutches of the wolf attacking her. Roaring loudly, she uses the time granted to her by Thorgrod's sudden appearance to lean down and draw forth her sharpened spear. Now crying out to the heavens with rage she thrusts the metal tip of her weapon as hard as she can into the open maw of the wolf lunging forth at her to try and once more feast upon the shield-maiden's most savory flesh. A sickening pop and squish are heard as the tip of Sylvi's spear pierces the creature's flesh and quickly finds itself jutting out from the back of its skull by nearly a full arm's length in distance.
Just a reminder @TetNak Sylvi is also quite strong! She could be doing Power Attacks as a a default as well. By Thor's Arm works with it too one might add ;)

Sylvi's Classic Attack on Wolf 4
3k2(AGI)+1k1(Furor)+6(Skill)-3(Feat), ST 17 = 31, Hit! SM 14
Damage: 10(Base)+14(SM)+5(Feat)-6(Physical) = 23 points sustained!
23>20(Vitality x2) Target is Killed Outright!
As Sylvi's wolf falls, the remaining beasts press on with their assault. Kaeder, Kolgrim, Skulmdall, and Yrsa all defend themselves heroically. Battering with their shields, blades, and bodies the bold quartet of heroes grunt triumphantly as they manage to keep their adversaries at bay. Clearly, these creatures are quite vicious when lunging from the darkness and attacking prey as a whole; but not so much now with their numbers so rapidly depleting.
Wolves attack again. -2 Secondary Action penalties apply.

Wolf 2's Attack on Yrsa
2d10+4, ST 24 = 11, Miss!

Wolf 5's Attack on Skulmdall (still considered to be Flanked until he acts)
2d10+7, ST 21 = 20, Miss!

Wolf 6's Attack on Kolgrim (Wounded, -3 penalty)
2d10+1, ST 21 = 13, Miss!

Alpha Wolf's Attack on Kaeder
2d10+6, ST 21 = 15, Miss!
A painful look overcomes Kolgrim's face as he batters away his assailant, almost a look of remorse. His wounded beast is hobbled and dying and it appears to bother the old man rather surprisingly. Brandishing the haft of his axe with both hands, Kolgrim draws forth a chestful of breath and ends the pitiful wolf's existence with but a single fell swoop of his weapon. The blade of Kolgrim's axe buries itself deeply inside the creature's skull. Kolgrim's painful look lessens.
Kolgrim's Power Attack on Wolf 6
3k2(STR)+7(Skill)-2(Secondary), ST 17 = 18, Hit! SM 1
Damage: 14(Base)+1(SM)+3(STR)-6(Physical) = 12 points sustained!
12>10(Vitality) Already Wounded Target is Killed Outright!
Holding off on Annehi and Yrsa until you guys go.
We are currently in the Secondary Action phase.

Realizing he might be better off holding off this foe, Kæder moves into a defensive posture, attempting to block off the wolves potential attacks against him.

Seeing the wolf before him die at Sylvi's hand, Thorgrod quickly scans the area around the campsite. He is roughly equidistant between the wolf attacking Yrsa and Annahi and the large black alpha wolf attacking Kaeder. He looks momentarily at Sylvi. "Aid Yrsa, I will help Kaeder." Before she can respond, he begins heading toward the alpha.
I will use my secondary action to move to engage the alpha, if that is allowed.

With one wolf down, Skulmdall quickly brings his sword around. He strikes the remaining wolf next to him. He sees the battle going their way, but he is worried about Yrsa and Annehi, not to mention the thrall who seems to be the largest beast of the pack. We need to end this battle quickly, the Northman thinks.

So I guess Thorgrod's first action in the second round will be to move to engage the alpha. Does that use up his primary action?

Sylvi switches her weapons and places the javelin in her right hand. With a great heave, she sends one of her javelins toward the Alpha wolf, hoping to pierce its flesh and kill it.

Yrsa's Power Attack on Wolf 2 (-2 Secondary Penalty)
3k2+2, ST 17 = 6, Miss!

Annehi's Classic Attack on Wolf 2 (-2 Secondary Penalty, +6 Defender Turned Away)
2k2+8, ST 17 = 16, Miss!

The pair forfeit the rest of their Secondary Actions this Round.
As Kolgrim's face relaxes, Annehi's and Yrsa's contorts with anxiety and frustration. The two women try their best to fell their beast, but it proves to be too nimble and avoids both the wounded blacksmith's and naive volva's attempts to do so. Fortunately for Skulmdall, he is more fortunate than his two colleagues when dealing with his own wolf.

Clearly the young reaver-prince is more skilled in combat than Annehi and Yrsa, and it shows.

Skulmdall turns to face his adversary and delivers a powerful kick to it which boots the beast away from him and gives the warrior time enough to collect his wits and prepare a more suitable attack. Crossing his blade out in front of him repeatedly, Skulmdall then performs a short series of "X's" that keep the wolf at back and affords Skulmdall the chance to spin his body around and put more strength into the momentum of his maneuver.
It looks like Skulmdall is performing a Secondary Action. Using common sense here. He has no additional assailants and now that you're actually acting, he is no longer considered to be Flanked. Basically, you spin your focus of attention over towards the one remaining wolf engaged with you in combat.

Skulmdall's Power Attack on Wolf 5 (-2 Penalty)
3k2+4, ST 17 = 21, Hit! 4 SM
Damage: 12(Base)+4(SM)+3(STR)-6(Armor) = 13 points sustained!
13>10(Vitality) = Target is Wounded (-3 penalty)
Skulmdall's blow connects soundly and tears a gash across the flank of his target. Snarling soon turns into one loud pain-filled yelp as the wounded animal retreats backwards and spirals about in a circle. The creature's yelping is soon joined by the black-furred alpha's. It would seem that there is still much fight left in Sylvi as well!
Sylvi's Precision Attack on Alpha Wolf (-2 Secondary Action, +3 Short Range)
2k2+6, ST 19 = 34, Hit! SM 15 (Armor reduced by PER)
Damage: 21-6=15 points sustained!
15>12(Vitality) = Target is Wounded (-3 penalty)
The shield-maiden wastes no time and skillfully buries the tip of her bloody spear into the earth and reaches down to scoop up one of her nearby javelins. She grips the haft of the new weapon with the right hand and scans across the crackling flames of the party's campfire to spy Kaeder being ravaged by a very large wolf. Pausing to take aim, she then hurls her weapon over the fire and smirks slightly upon hearing the beast howl in agony.

Still however, the wolf still stands!
Some of you could still act, but let's go ahead and move on to the new round. After all, you guys won the initiative so no major worries. Helps give everyone a chance to try and do something this way too ;)
Party, Wolves
Names in italics have already acted this phase of the round.
We are currently in the Primary Action phase.

Kaeder 21/40
Kolgrim 30/41
Skulmdall 21/41

Yrsa 22/44 (-1 Furor)

Alpha (-3 Wounded, -15 Health)
Wolf 1 (Deceased)
Wolf 3 (Deceased)
Wolf 4 (Deceased)
Wolf 5 (-3 Wounded, -13 Health)
Wolf 6 (Deceased)

Doing his best not to get bit again, Kæder attempts to strike at the alpha wolf with his fiery stick again.
