"About as much as everyone else." Henry notes, shaking his head again,"That is to say absolutely nothing. Do you foresee this being an obstacle?"

"It's not an obstacle really, reports have begun surfacing about archaeological discoveries being made that pre date the Protheans by millennia, we are talking about untold technologies, that might even pre date the birth of the Reapers, our employer is keen to finding out what these technological wonders are and where they are, that is your job, to figure this out and track them down, you might be asking yourself why the secrecy? Well because the findings have not been shared with anyone yet, and the council is keeping quiet about it, for one reason or another, so be smart and ruffle as little feathers as possible, you don't want that kind of heat on you. Any other questions?"

"Our intel says that it was the Salarians that discovered the ruins, since we don't know where the ruins or those scientists are you will be travelling to Sur'Kesh from there you will gather information on where to move to next, there is a freighter currently anchored on the port, it will be leaving for Sur"Kesh to pick up a shipment of Burntgrass, we have book passage for you on it, the freighter is called Kashit'Ur, the ship will be leaving tomorrow at 0600 hours."

With that a hood is placed over your head and you are led to a vehicle, you are blindly moved from one place to another, you can tell that they are pros they seem to be backtracking and double backing to avoid the recognition of any traveling pattern from you. After about an hour and a half of this, you are dropped off at a plaza near your house.

Rubbing his head as the dizziness slowly recedes, Henry shakes his head.

"All too predictable..." Picking up his stuff he heads into his place and starts setting his things in order and prepare for his flight on the morrow.

Ashes of the Forgotten: Remnants of a Life

Post by Daz318 » Wed Oct 05, 2016 1:45 pm

Upon entering his home Henry begins his preparations for the trip, while getting things organized he discovers a cipher in his pocket. After packing his equipment and some spare clothes Henry boards the Kashit'Ur, the large freighter has seen better days, from the outside it looks like any other 3 year old ship that clog the arteries of the interstellar trading routes, although somewhat battered the ship looks fit enough to travel, however a closer look at the bowels of the ship reveals that it is in much worse shape than previously thought, surely a bribe or two had allowed this ship to leave the docks in more than one port. Henry is greeted by the ship's captain a rough looking human, he introduces himself as Captain Kellogg. The fellow joins you on the walk to your quarters, as he walks he explains the ship's history, "The Kashit'Ur has been around since before the Reaper invasion, in those days the ship was the pride of Earth's merchant fleet, she embarked in the longest and the most dangerous trips, and always managed to return, during the war the ship was re purposed as a fuel tanker for the Alliance, during the war the ship was shot down and left wrecked in a small moon in the Horse Head Nebula, forgotten to all but a few, that's where i along with other ex members of the merchant fleet, salvaged the ship and rebuilt it." The tour concludes with Captain Kellogg showing Henry his cabin.

During the trip there Henry receives an encoded message from an unknown source, the message had been slid under his door at night while he slept. Using the cipher that he found on his pocket Henry decoded the message which read:

"Upon arrival on Sur'Kesh seek Aetin Raelis from there follow leads provided."

The trip to Sur'Kesh was uneventful and quiet for the most part Henry avoided ruffling any feathers even after puzzling out that the ship was a smuggling freighter and that it's cargo for the most part consisted of highly illegal contents.

Henry arrives on the space port and clears customs rather quickly, he walks slowly looking around the green planet's landscapes as he decides where to go from here.
A little extra info on Sur'Kesh

Description

The salarian homeworld has been likened to the jungles of Earth: pretty to look at, teeming with life, uncomfortable to live in and dangerous to the unwary. The technophilic salarians had significant pollution and waste problems early in the development of their society. They also embraced social solutions just as quickly, and through complex breeding rules, Sur'Kesh now maintains a crowded but sustainable population. The planet tends to be wetter than Earth, and salarian cities spare no expense to collect and provide fresh water, as one might expect from an amphibious species.

Due to Sur'Kesh's location in the galaxy, far from dark space, it has yet to be invaded by the Reapers. But its rulers are all too aware that they are in the path of attack. Because they could not strike the first blow, as their military doctrine suggests, many already consider their forces at a severe disadvantage.

Codex Entry

Alternating between large oceans and landmasses covered in flora, the salarian homeworld, Sur'Kesh, is known for its humid climate and lush vegetation. As with the rainforests that once covered Earth, the planet's many forests enjoy a rich biodiversity. The salarian desire for intellectual stimulation drove them long ago to explore every aspect of their environment, developing ways to thrive without consequences detrimental to their habitat.

The areas near major cities and industrial centers are meticulously maintained, with an eye towards ensuring that sunlight penetrates to the ground level and that established paths through the jungle are kept clear for travel. Burngrass, a soil-enriching and adaptable weed native to Sur'Kesh, has become a major export because of its value for terraforming.

Having done his best to resist the urge to make fun of 'Captain Kellog's name, Henry takes a deep breath when back on a planets surface, heading for an information desk on the spaceport. Upon getting through the queue, he nods to the greeters,"I was informed that there'd be a message from Aetin Raelis for me... name's Henry Douglas."

Ashes of the Forgotten: Remnants of a Life

The Salarian attendant looks at Henry for a moment before asking him for some form of identification before proceeding. After confirming Henry's identity the Salarian focuses her attention on the screen in front of her, quickly tapping away at the keys and muttering to herself as most Salarians do, after about a minute or so of this, the attendant raises her head and says, " Yes, message from one Aetin Raelis to Henry Douglas, 1300 hours, Saelis H'ov, financial district, don't be late." Scratching her head the Salarian looks at Henry, when nothing else is said the Salarian returns to her duties and Henry heads outside to hail a cab.

Largely untouched by the Reaper invasion Sur'Kesh's rebuilding efforts have taken much less effort and time than those on earth, the green planet boasts large forest areas that are teeming with wildlife and exotic flora, the city itself is impecable and quite busy, everywhere Henry looks there are thriving businesses, clearly Sur'Kesh has recovered well, and the Salarians are riding a new wave of prosperity.

The financial district sits close to the center of the city, very close to the local government center, like the rest of the city the streets are sparkling clean and all around people walk with purposeful strides, another sign of the progress of the Salarians, after walking around for a while, Henry finds Saelis H'ov on the corner of two very prosperous looking streets, the hotel is on the cutting edge of luxury and class, the hotel's lobby is a double floored open area draped with the finest carpets that money can buy, on the roof hangs a massive crystal candelabra reminiscent of those which were popular on earth so long ago, tourists in fancy suits flood the place. Spotting the hotel's bar Henry makes his way there, inside more of the same, fancy suits and even fancier looking escorts/courtesans clearly this is a playground for the rich. Henry takes a seat on a corner booth and orders an overpriced drink as he waits for his contact to arrive.

After a few minutes he is joined by a slender Salarian, slender even for a Salarian, the man looks at Henry for a second before saying anything. "You must be Henry, i am Aetern Delu, your contact here in Sur'Kesh, i am sure you have many questions."

"And I'm hoping you have many answers." Henry smirks at the Salarian. He wasn't exactly a Terra Firma supporter or a human supremacist, but as a former marine he did have certain biases against aliens, and even when they were just 'acting as any human would' he saw the Salarians and Asari especially as quite condescending towards humanity. This sort of open statement and begging a question was exactly the sort of thing he hated.

"Answers to questions such as who or what is the target and where is it located?"
