No no no, I'm loving it! Most Games I've been involved with the only time the Avatar communicates it during a Dream Sequence, or a Seeking. The fact that you have a communicative one is a fresh change of pace.

Hmmmmmm. Could Geyser have been recruited via the Wellness Center? Maybe his mentor is a member of the Utopians.

Sorry if I moved the Epilogue on too fast. It sounded like most of the group was at least entertaining the idea, so he wanted to leave it at that. Not try to twist your arm into committing right this second and making promises before you've had a chance to think about it. I apologize if I didn't get any of the subtext across well.

No, that's fine. I didn't feel railroaded--Pixel did. :) That's an important difference.

Please continue your in-character deliberations as long as you like. Whatever dynamic of independence or connection to the existing power structure you determine (as a group, and as individuals) is fine by me. Beggars can't be choosers, and Master Robertson isn't in a position to turn away help at this point. So whether you remain effectively an independent contractor, or the opposite end of a Cabal building relationships within the community, he can work with that dynamic. ... or even say No altogether and strike out on your own. I'm not going to limit your choices here.

While that's going in, we can simultaneously work on the "Down Time" that would be natural between Chapters. A period of time would pass to settle down and determine how this affects your life as a whole. You'll be offered a Chantry and Node (I'll give out 3 options that he can offer and you can choose which one you want), as well as materiel support to establish your own operation.
- So let's say you'll have a couple months for things to settle down, and work on your group relationship and resources. Dexter/Pixel/Ulrich have been at least work acquaintances since the Prologue, but Geyser just came in during the Council Meeting. So determining how you want to work together, how your lives and schedules move around, that sort of thing.

I'm also handing out EXP in the Advancement Thread, so that's always fun to use. ;)

One last thing. KrowsNest had expressed interest to me a while back on joining the Mage Game as another PC. I'll check in to see if he still had interested in joining. If so, I'll have him introduce himself and his character concept here in the OOO. Chat with each other to see if/how this new Mage could fit into the group. It could be as easy as meeting up in the Down Time, or I can easily use him to help start the plot hook in the next Chapter.

Dammit I could have put everybody to sleep with Life. I'll have to keep that in mind for later.

I think Geyser would approach his mentor for advice and just chill and hang at the beach for a while (he's burned-out on Nephandic terrors atm), have a chat with Levy, and discuss the balancing act between his academic pursuit and Robertson's request with Sparrow, but none of this has to be played out.

We could all converge at the Nine Hands to talk at least once, seeing as we all have an investment/concern for Jade Dragon's mental health and maybe want to check on her brother.

For setting up scenes or meeting new characters in down time, currently Geyser's circles include the beach, the wellness center, and his college campus. And irregularly, (but yes, I'm saying there's a chance!) also a venue where he might see June Spades do her show.

I just posted in the Main Thread, so check that out first. But in summary Hermit has decided to withdraw from the Campaign at this time, as it is a natural point for his character to back out of the newly-forming Cabal and its Mission. So Dexter, much as with the characters from other players that have exited the Campaign in the past, will still be in the city as an NPC. Mainly as a "Contacts" sort of person to seek his flavor of guidance and foretelling, but not someone who would take up a gun and run off after Demons with you.

Tomorrow I'll post your Chantry choices (as I promised previously), and I encourage the rest of you to Post here about any Downtime activities that could be of interest. For example, some of your EXP Advancements could have naturally come from your experiences in Chapter 1, but others might be from your Downtime as well. That might be something useful to elaborate on.

... The next week still counts as "tomorrow", right?

Chantry/Node Choices:

1) Chantry: Richmond District House – “Marina House” with multiple rooms, a sunroom, and an unfinished basement previously used for ritual work and crafting. Previously the home of a Verbena couple who died in the recent Attack. Low-key, fitting into the rest of the urban housing. Security by invisibility, looking like every other house.
- Nearby Node: Golden Gate Park - National AIDS Memorial Grove - Constructed in the 1990s in remembrance of those who died of AIDS. Resonances of grief and healing. New so it is relatively weak (Rating 2), but growing from its continued use by thousands. It is open to the public, so not able to be secured, but that also means it can be easily accessed in a wide section of the City. Does not produce physical Tass.

2) Sutro Tower (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sutro_Tower) – Cavern underneath what is now Sutro Tower, hollowed out by Adolph Sutro in the 1800s as a secure research center, as he was a member of House Bonisagus of the Order of Hermes. Specialized in research into communications and numerology. His descendants are ignorant of their ancestor’s magical history, and the cavern has been forgotten for decades. Obscured by location and time, but the space was designed more as a lab than a living space. Space is at a premium.
- Node within the Hidden Bunker – Moderate strength (Rating 3). Resonances of focus and enlightenment. Crystals slowly grow along the edges of the first lab table installed, forming into harvestable Tass.

3) San Francisco Armory (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Francisco_Armory) – Hidden sub-basement built as part of the original armory, sealed off and magical obscured during the height of the Red Scare. Not occupied in the last two years. It had been used as a base of operations by the Militant Cabal, but an operation gone bad against a Technocratic Node ended with a number of Militants dead in the assault. With reduced numbers the site was no longer forth upkeeping. High physical and magical security.
- Node within the Armory – Low strength (Rating 1). Resonance is a confusing mixture of stability and change. The building above has been used from everything from a stronghold for the National Guard, a sports venue, and a porn company. Does not produce physical Tass.

Gaining Tass draws me to option #2, but for the sake of reducing commute time, I like option #1. We can pool resources to add security to any of these.
