Chapter 1: The Beginning of the End

While leaving the truck running Mike jumped out with the katana in hand and looked for the bodies of soldiers. Remembering that he saw the Big Red One unit patch he hoped to find infantryman scattered throughout the corpses. "Guns, ammo, IBAs, and MREs that's what we need."

Mike scanned for any pallets of bottled water or MREs after searching a few soldier's remains.

With the zombies killed, Jason follows Chris and begins searching for anything of value. "We are going to need to get some gas some way. Anyone know how to siphon from one tank to another, or at least into some sort of container?"

Jason would take anything at this point, it really didn't matter. He kept his eyes open, though, for any zombies lurking around or people wanting to bushwhack them.

So here's the plan. Anyone who wants to can do a search roll. I would use mental category. For each uncancelled success die, I will have you find something useful. You can name the items you find (within reasonable expectations). For example, one gun, one can of gas, one box of ammo, etc. If you have multiple success dice, then I would let you spend two to find something exceptionally useful.You are safe for one round of searching. You can continue to search by rolling again, but things will get riskier the longer you look around. If you stay in the car, you cannot search of course.

"Just like in movies, right?" Olli notes with a somewhat crooked smirk belying his nervousness,"Get some hose, put one end in car, suck other end and let it flow?"

I too would like to have Olli search the area one turn at a time. Unsure what mental issues to use though.

Jason looks at the girl, "Stay inside, please, keep any eye out. You can be our look out." He gives her a forced smile after the horror of dead bodies everywhere.

He specifically looks for food first. He was starving, and knew the others were as well, then, gasoline. They had to keep moving. And lastly, a weapon of some kind. A gun, a knife, something.

The four of you leave Jessica in the car as you spread out to search for any usable supplies.

I will give each of you 2 positive dice since there is stuff lying everywhere.
Round 1
Mike: +(1,5) -(4): 1 success one stress.
Chris:+(3,4) -(2): Fails to find anything useful, 1 stress
Olli: +(2,5) -(3): 1 success, 1 stress
Jason: -(1,5) -(6): 1 success, 1 stress
Each of you can describe what you found. Everyone but Chris found 1 useful item.

After several minutes of searching Mike, Olli, and Jason all have found one of the things they were looking for. Chris' search has been fruitless so far. You look around and it seems some of the zombies are starting to move around on the ground. At this point, none of them have gotten up or tried to crawl toward you. You could probably continue searching for a few more minutes, but you all sense that at any moment some of the zombies might manage to get up.

Olli keeps searching. There was no immediate danger and who knew when they'd have an opportunity like this next time?

"Keep an eye out in case more show up." He adds unnecessarily.

Chris continues searching, frustrated he hasn't found anything of use. "We can either give up an opportunity like this and then die stranded somewhere because we've run out of gas and water... or we can take a risk and ensure we can actually escape this place."

Food. Glorious food. He walks it back to the car and throws it into the trunk. Jason resists the urge to eat it now. Instead, he goes back to looking for anything else of use, particularly gasoline and, well, something to kill zombies with.
