Preamble: The Gathering

Ever wonder what it would be like to play a cosmic-level super hero? Yes, that’s right, an interstellar class of super hero. Perhaps something akin to a member of the Green Lantern Corps or possibly even a colleague to Rom Space Knight? Maybe you’d prefer to play something like Shazam or Adam Warlock. Answer yes? Then this may very well be the game for you! Utilizing the Marvel Heroic Roleplaying Core Rules by Margaret Weis Productions Ltd. and the powers of sheer imagination, I have come up with a game setting in which players are allowed the chance to play such powerful types of heroes. Starknight Academy will essentially allow players to portray one of their home-world's "best" in a military academy styled setting. There they will undergo the trials and exams that will hopefully reward them with the title of Starknight and a chance to join the galaxy's finest order of law-keepers in the Universe!

”The first three months of the New Year are proving to be quite the busy time for the Galactic Council. Not only has the group found themselves amidst a precarious set of peace talks between two of their most loyal races, the Andrilians and Zentrati, but also amidst the rising tensions of a band of disgruntled Narakkan nobles. It would appear that the Narakkan people have chosen now among all times, to plead their case to the Great Council and are demanding aid in the fight against the most viral and savage race of intergalactic “locusts” otherwise known as - the S’krilla. What was once thought to be an isolated race of grotesque, if not oddly-unique, parasitic aliens have apparently found some means of escaping their previously contained homeworld and have now taken to the stars in an infectious scourge of inter-special infestation.

The first among the sentient races to feel the S’krilla’s wrath were the Kull, many others soon followed. Before long, the entire Omicron system was lost to the S’krilla’s terrifying offensive and immediately placed upon by a military blockade of conjoined forces. The Kull homeworld of Togrun was overrun this previous year and what millions that managed to somehow escape, did so with the aid of their Narakkan neighbors. As such, the stubborn and materialistic race of extremely cunning diplomats did their best to use the strongest of the grateful race to help bolster the might of their own existing military. They then auctioned off the rest to whichever bidder was in need of doing the same for themselves. In but a short time, the entirety of the Kull people had found themselves eking out an existence of nomadic and mercenary-like servitude.

The Narakkan noble houses now plague the Council with unyielding requests to help them destroy the S’krilla once and for all. It would seem that the Omicron system has fattened with the vile scourge’s progeny and their incessant hunger is driving them to try and once more take to the stars and seek suitable hosts for procreation. These demands are coming at a most fragile time among the Great Council as their two most loyal of servant races are at odds with one another. It would seem that the Zentrati peoples have recently attacked an Andrilian outpost in what appears to be a justifiable response to a previous offensive. The Galactic Council is still researching the matter in great detail and has even brought up several of the two race’s leaders and their comrades on official charges, but the outcome of such affairs is still highly unclear. A sad time indeed for the Council.

The entire affair appears to be a result of an Andrilian official taking personal offense to his honor and challenging his Zentrati rival to a duel which the latter had fatally lost. The Zentrati commander’s troops then allegedly “assaulted” the Andrilian outpost in the attempt to achieve what they claim to be – justifiable restitution against their commander’s killer. The Council itself is uncertain what to do about the situation as it involves two of their utmost loyal allies and seems to reek of the widespread rumors of an attempt to tarnish their image. It has been a rough time for the Council and they pray the new year will fare much better than the previous one."

No need to post just yet. More stuff to come and I just wanted to let you know how things are going to be starting off when we get the ball rolling.

FWIW - I'm Totally Psyched and Welcome Aboard Everybody!

I have such high hopes for us all!

"Yes indeed, it has been a rather busy three months for the Great Council. Still though, the Galactic Council is much like any other organized group or business of integrity and value. Their Collective Rulers abide by the same rules and regulations that govern such things and simply make do with the resources that they have at hand, as best they can; all the while secretly trying to find the time to try and reach out to the known universe for some more recruits to assist them with their cause and use such heroic individuals to not only bolster their ranks but also to aid them in maintaining the fragile peace in a galaxy apparently gone wild.

Among such endeavors conducted by the Council is an ordeal known as The Gathering. Those recruits showing great promise and aptitudes are secretly contacted by representatives of the Great Council and offered a chance to join their most elite fighting team against the war on crime and injustice throughout the Known Universe. Hailed by all as Star Knights, these brave and powerful individuals comprise the Council's most prized group of lawgivers. Trained in the arts of warfare and science, tactics and honor, chivalry and justice, the Great Council's 'Starknights' stand tall, stand proud, and most definitely, stand strong! Each one more than willing to lay down their lives and to help shed the Light of Justice upon the darkest reaches of space, even if only for long enough to make the slightest difference of good in the world. After all in a time of chaos and unrest, who couldn't appreciate a little law and order in their daily routine?

Our story begins as the Gathering takes place. Those brave souls whom have accepted the Council's offer are in the process of being rounded up and transported to the Scythe Nebula via Zentrati shuttle and Warbird escort. The time given to each person to make their final preparations for departure has varied greatly, and the process of rounding everyone up itself somewhat complicated if not tedious. Still however, the future Starknights of the Galaxy are eager to do their part to lend a hand and have spent the time coming to an understanding that such an honor and position as the one they're receiving does not come lightly nor does it come without price.

In order to achieve such a privilege as the title and right of being called a full-fledged Starknight, one must first undergo a series of tests and extensive training to do so. Each and every one of these obstacles specifically designed to test a candidate's personal limitations and their devotion to the calling of becoming a future lawgiver. Such affairs shall be conducted at a hidden starbase hidden deep within the Scythe Nebula, a perilous region of corrosive gases and cosmic debris known as the Great Void - home to one of the largest Black Holes ever - the Maw!

And so begins our adventures and journey of those brave souls fortunate enough to have been selected by the Great Council to attend Starknight Academy."

Still no need to post. Just rearranging our Preamble. An appropriate Prologue will begin in a new thread. Enjoy!
