Prologue: First Impressions

Ever wonder what it would be like to play a cosmic-level super hero? Yes, that’s right, an interstellar class of super hero. Perhaps something akin to a member of the Green Lantern Corps or possibly even a colleague to Rom Space Knight? Maybe you’d prefer to play something like Shazam or Adam Warlock. Answer yes? Then this may very well be the game for you! Utilizing the Marvel Heroic Roleplaying Core Rules by Margaret Weis Productions Ltd. and the powers of sheer imagination, I have come up with a game setting in which players are allowed the chance to play such powerful types of heroes. Starknight Academy will essentially allow players to portray one of their home-world's "best" in a military academy styled setting. There they will undergo the trials and exams that will hopefully reward them with the title of Starknight and a chance to join the galaxy's finest order of law-keepers in the Universe!

So…much…to…read…in order to catch up on things. Upon overall review, I think that I’ll just go with the straightforward approach in handling things before we conclude this portion of the game and move on to our final Prologue. Please bear with as I do so.
Preen responds to Tisp, “We…noI got enough to eat, though I fear for my bowels when the time comes to visit our latrine.” He then listens alongside Tamrin as the group begins to engage in a group conversation. The tiny Rodellian smiles and appears to be greatly enjoying the surrounding sounds of conversation and camaraderie going on about him. Leaping up into his bunk, he settles down and tries to relax; in time commenting.

“They say I am an oddity among my species. I’ve never attended a school or facility of any kind other than the institute that my people recommended I visit. There, it was unpleasant to say the least. I was isolated and quarantined like an animal, as were my parents and immediate family.” Preen’s mood darkens. He continues.

“You see, I am not like your typical Rodellian, and nobody seems to know why that is. Apparently, I’ve always thought outside the box and unlike others of my kind, have never felt right in wearing the subservient skin that the rest of my ilk seem to share. I have always spoken my mind when the need arises and do not tolerate bullies of any kind, period. Where others of my race have fled and hid, I stood my ground and tried to find a way of overcoming the problem.”

Preen’s eyes sadden deeply as his mood worsens.

”That is when he first appeared.”

Tamrin’s visage reflects Preen’s sadness and she tries to comfort him. The emotional Rodellian brushes off her attempts brusquely, commenting further. “I don’t need anyone’s pity, only their friendship!” Forcing himself to smile feebly, Preen’s eyes lessen with sadness as he takes a deep breath and attempts to calm himself. “I’m sorry m’lady. What I meant to say, is that I hope the Academy was right about me and that this freakish gift they say I possess is one that can be used for some good as opposed to its prior usage.”

Though upset visibly, Tamrin appears to understand the reasoning behind Preen’s refusal of her attempt at comforting him. She merely takes a step back and looks upon the creature lovingly and with an empathetic gaze. Preen’s eyes suddenly widen momentarily and then he smiles.

Time passes as you continue to converse among one another…

The sound of Preen’s snoring softly begins to echo throughout the surrounding air. It would appear that the tiny Rodellian has drifted off to sleep as your group continues to prattle on about this thing or that. In time, Tamrin begins to yawn and stretch her voluptuous arms. She smiles warmly and inquiries as to the time. No sooner than she has, an announcement is made over the intercom.

“Attention passengers and crew, this is your Captain speaking. The last of our escort has arrived and final preparations for our departure have been made. I advise that each of you find yourself a bunk if you have not already done so and be prepared to settle down for the night. Our vessels will be entering the Warp in precisely twenty minutes. We shall be traveling in it for the next nine-hours. Get yourself some shut-eye and more announcements to come as needed. That is all…”
Finish things up here and bunk down for the night. I’ll end this thread with a proper narrative before moving on to our next Prologue.

GM Hint: You might want to look over your character sheets and read up on how things work via the Core Rules on our Wiki Linki Tavi link in the OOC portion of the game.

"Time for a rest, it seems, miss. Let us carry on when we've rested."

The Militant Monarch of M'eol vaults one-armed to the top bunk. Hanging his sleeveless jacket on a corner of the bed, he stretches out, his arm still armored by his otherworldly gauntlet.

Sleep is a luxury on campaign, and no dragon of legend hoards its luxuries like King Atom. His descent into slumber allows him to reflect on the strangeness of those he has met.

Soldiers and shapeshifters. Gentry and goons. Monsters and mercenaries and magi.

And me.

Deacon watches as the conversations die down. Listening as the Captain makes his announcement Deacon swings down and into his bottom bunk.

Having mastered the time honored military skill of sleeping when you can, Deacon is soon asleep.

Kuri is also ready for bed. He bids everyone else goodnight, changes to proper sleeping attire with a wave of a hand, and steps away to use the facilities before turning in.

A short time later, he's back in his bunk, engaging in some light meditation that enables him to drop right off to a deep sleep.

And so the last of your group turns in for bed. In time, the rest of the barracks eventually does likewise; but at their own pace of course. As each of you drifts off into slumber, one cannot help but think that there are one or two fortunate individuals left within the barracks whom are either too restless or nervous and way too excited to sleep. Secretly, you envy them slightly as sleep takes you.

Meanwhile, outside among the stars, four fully-armed-and-manned Zentrati assault cruisers hover around their two larger demolisher class brethren. Each of these two larger ships are manned by a skeleton crew and contains the Starknight Academy’s new recruits. A brief flash is seen as each one of the spaceships fires off a blinking beacon of some kind in front of it No larger in size than your average barrel, these blinking gadgets tumble about and whirl around in front of the space before their respective vessel.

Suddenly, a group of paired lasers is seen firing off a dual-blast from the Zentrati spaceships. The lasers quickly strike the barrels in front of their respective starships with a precise accuracy and cause the devices struck to erupt into a fiery explosion of vibrantly-colored plasma and ethereal-looking energy. Emerging from these blasts are sizable wormholes, each of which continuing to grow in their sizes until their respective ship can pass through them easily enough. In time, each of the Zentrati vessels can be seen entering the wormholes and their nine-hour journey through the Warp commencing.

As the journey begins, our scene ends by showing the last of the vessels entering the warp and their respective wormholes closing in upon themselves behind the Zentrati starships. Now hovering about inside the barracks, the scene continues to draw itself to a close as it views your barrack's various occupants and then to a view of your sleeping forms from above.

With the view now fading into blackness, our scene ultimately concludes itself by telescoping in upon Preen as he slumbers...
Alright then, thus ends our current Prologue. If you haven’t already guessed it, something is going to happen as you travel through warpspace. Pray it isn't bad! Muhuhahahahaha...

Next up on our agenda, is THE LONGEST NIGHT.

I look forwards to meeting you there!
